Was the Tech "Fumble" a TD?

It sure looks like it! Click on the link below to see the Twitter photo.

I confirmed the authenticity of the photo by reviewing my High Def recording of the play -- frame by frame -- on my DVR. The ball was even clearer on my HD TV screen. During the critical time that the ball was completely over the goal line, the white thread stitching on the football, as well as the white circles at each end, are clearly visible. The image on the DVR frame is much larger than this cropped still photo.

I eMailed the photo to Tech AD Mike Bobinski, as well as the AJC's Ken Sugiura (who is the Tech football reporter). I feel that the blown call is so egregious that Tech should file a protest with the NCAA!

What this really means is that Tech won the game even though the SEC refereeing crew put a "14-point dagger" through our heart. Without the blown call, we blow out the dogs!

In before Cool Starry Bra.

(the answer is yes, it was a TD, but everyone here has already seen that image and been agonizing over it since Sunday morning. Also welcome to Stingtalk)

To be totally honest, that doesn't look for sure to be the football to me. It looks like it is the tip of the ball and the stripe, but hard to be certain. Maybe it is clearer in motion.

I followed Justin Thomas and the football -- frame by frame in high definition -- from the snap until the ball was over the goal line. In the larger-framed broadcast recording, part of Justin's helmet can also be seen above the goal line. The football is much clearer in the HD format. It's hard to figure how the refs missed it -- with the whole football and Justin's torso -- over the goal line.

If I was Bobinski, I'd get Tech's video experts poring over the photographic evidence.

Meh. Did Jameis steal Alaskan king crab legs or regular crab legs?

If you want to know whether we scored, don't look for the football, look at the defense. The only d-lineman on that side of the ball to touch JT was #47 Ray Drew. Drew goes into the endzone and then pulls JT backwards on top of him (meaning JT was a ahead of him on the play)

Also look at the second guy that hits JT, #51, who is pushing the pile back. He starts pushing the pile back 2-3 steps into the end zone (not to mention he came from the opposite side of the play and is the second guy to touch him).

Last, look at where every players eyes are. They are on the football, which is over the goal line.

It was without question a touchdown and a complete asshat of a call. And I agree with the OP that we should address it rather than just saying it doesn't matter we win.

As a 42-year Tech football season ticket holder, I hate to see this kind of officiating malfeasance swept under the rug. Sure, we won the game anyway, but these refs need to be reined in.

Click on the link below for a Fox Sports article about the SEC officiating situation.

and the SEC is going to do exactly jackshit about it. all you can do is hope the ACC gives us the same treatment

Also look at Days run two plays before. The ball should have been marked at the 3 and it was marked just shy of the 5

what if you were a 10-year season ticket holder, then you wouldn't hate it?

My point was that I have a lot of blood, sweat, tears and treasure invested in the Program...

BTW, I'm tremendously happy that we beat the dogs. I just think we need to convey to them and their fans (fleas) the true magnitude of the Tech triumph. I think that 37-17 is a lot closer to reality than 30-24.

I agree that a major stink needs to be raised about how this game was officiated. The SEC knows that the GT-UGA game is the one most needed for conference superiority. So they sent their dirtiest crew to the game.
