Watch the Florida coaching situation

I wouldn't say that. Next year, he will either be extended at least a year or let go. Nobody actually gets to the end of their contract, anymore.

Buyouts are unavoidable unless your coach retires or gets hired away.
His contract is 7 years right? Don’t they do the extension when you have 2 years left? Next season is his 4th.

Maybe? 2 or 3. So extended or fired within the next 2. If it's the latter, I'd think we know at the end of next year.

Pretty much where I was going. This contract will get renewed after year 4 or 5.

Can Tech get rid of Collins without paying him? Let's see how things play out with Dan Mullen in Florida because I see no way Mullen is their coach in 2022. Florida has a history of dumping coaches without a full buyout. Look at Mcelwain a few years ago. He made a comment about death threats and that voided his contract. Look at Tennessee, the fired Pruitt for cause last year and paid him $0. After an internal investigation they determined all the players who took money and no NCAA sanctions are likely.

The damage Collins is causing is compounded by ugaly having their best season in 40 years. Stansbury needs to get in front of this now.
Who do you think will come here and do better? Ken Whisenhunt? That was a hilarious rumor.

Out of curiosity what does UGA having their best season in 40 years have to do with GT CGC? I would be more concerned about losing ground and not being good enough to see how GT could ever win the ACC, that’s what matters.
Not me. I would lose every single game of the season if we could beat Georgia.

but it’s irrelevant. We are years and years away from winning the ACC or beating Georgia.

We live in the same state with those ööööers and the average age of our fan base is 40+. In 20 years BDS is gonna look like ghost town unless we start getting some sidewalk fans since our students don’t care about football. A uga national title is not something we need right now. Or ever.

I really think the administration needs to take a more active role in football attendance. Give priority registration to students who attend games or give away free tickets to a different organization every game. We have to do something to fill out the stadium.

This is truly fascinating. I did not realize how wide the divide had become. I fully believe there will come a day that GT becomes used to being in the Top 25 year in and year out. GT will have a few Clemson type years but mostly will be respected in the ACC as a team that others better prepare and be ready for. You likely won’t beat UGA for a while but I wouldn’t worry to much about that, recruiting will be key and GT is sitting in the best football region in the US. When FSU moved to the ACC, Bobby Bowden was asked why did you move to the ACC? He said, he wanted a shot at competing for National Championships, that’s why he didn’t pick the SEC. Just beat the öööö out of the ACC teams on the schedule and the rest will begin to take care of itself. I’m one of those truly oddball UGA fans that wants to see GT do well except on our head to head. I don’t know how long it will take to reach what I describe above or exactly what it will take but GT will achieve success and will look back on this painful era of transition and smile because you aren’t there any longer and you survived it. Winning will be all that much sweeter and yes you will even be able to claim some of those are wins against UGA.

You are spot on. This situation will have to have full support at the very top of GT on down.

Some of the things you say on here are like you woke up in 1970 this morning and weren’t a party to the intervening years of head to head between these two programs.

In reality, you making that statement is the exact opposite of what you intended. The game doesn’t even register for you anymore.

Not sure what you mean by the first paragraph. The second you are correct, I hope and believe that GT will get out of the current valley where the UGA / GT game will matter to UGA fans. I grew up when the last thing you wanted to do was to lose to GT and have to face your GT buddy the next day. The pain associated with that was excruciating but it’s part of what makes college football great. Now there are kids on both campus’ that don’t realize there are books written about this rivalry. I liked that rivalry and wish for it to come back that’s all.

Mullen isn’t coming to Tech. He’ll join the Saban School for Coaches Who Can’t Coach Good and in 2 years be a head coach again.

Or he’ll join Meyer in Jacksonville for however long that mistake lasts.
Mullins will have zero problems finding another cfb head coaching job

I would hesitate to hire a guy who couldnt win at UF. What barriers to success do they have there? Of course, he will end up down the road at Idaho State or Toledo as that will look like a splash hire for schools like that. But a guy who can't win at a UF is the exact opposite of someone who i would look at for schools like us, Duke, Vandy, etc.

You would lose every single game as long as we beat UGA? Really?

he’s 48-34 at Fla, so-far and he did pretty decent overall at MSU. I think he’ll land in a better job than Toledo or Idaho ST.

He did win at Florida. He just isn’t winning year after year after year. Which is apparently what all fans want now. It’s kind of silly.
