Watch the Florida coaching situation

Weird how Florida teams used to dominate college football but now they're irrelevant
Two legendary coaches- Spurrier and Meyer, the rest have looked like garbage in comparison, i think it makes their fans crazy and unrealistic year-year to have that much success in the recent past. That and how badly uga is out-talenting them now makes it all that much worse.

He did win at Florida. He just isn’t winning year after year after year. Which is apparently what all fans want now. It’s kind of silly.
He‘s had 3 or 4 straight winning seasons until this year but missed on his qb situation this season, plus had to fire his DC, it happens.

Impossible... haven't you heard that nothing ever changes in CFB, the same big rich programs win everything always and forever...? Somebody tell that to FSU, Florida, Miami, USC, Texas, etc.

And prior to that, Bowden at FSU and 4 different (!) guys who cranked out NC's at the U.

Florida is too diluted with big schools playing bowl level football. For FSU, Miami, AND Florida to consistently have success, it’s going to take sacrificing UCF and USF to lower level football. It’s especially bad when you listen to Alabama and uga’s lineups and gear player after player from Florida.

FL has a LOT of talent on their roster, talent that we would kill for, just compared to uga and bama it looks like a bunch of scrubs

Tstan aint making any moves so what happens at UF and the dominos that fall after don't matter this year. We are stuck with Collins for another year. Actually, for another half year. If Tstan has half a brain he will can Collins sometime around midyear next year and get a jump start on searching for his replacement. If Tech fires at the end of the year we will likely be left with table scraps again. The BIG downside to this is having Coach Key likely take over on an interim basis. And think that dude is a snake. No telling how much ill will he might foster inside the program after his boy gets shown the door while knowing he doesn't have any chance of becoming the next HC himself.

But I'm not at all confident Tstan is up to the challenge of actually finding a decent coach. So we are probably screwed for quite some time no matter what. Maybe that knowledge is what makes so many blindly cling to a senseless and blind hope that Collins might still make a turnaround.

I really think the administration needs to take a more active role in football attendance. Give priority registration to students who attend games or give away free tickets to a different organization every game. We have to do something to fill out the stadium.

I'd like to see them do more, but they should never make academic decisions subject to the game attendence

Alternative suggestions are also appreciated.
The tickets are already paid for by mandatory fees and tied to your AT fund if you want tix as an alum. The block seating already has incentives in place to ensure kids are there before kickoff, but that's not working all that well.

I'm not sure what else can feasibly be done, but telling kids they get priority on class registration if they've gone to football games is losing the plot.

Win and they will come. As stated on another thread - one idea is to peruse the country and find the best possible coach who may have been fired that has a huge buyout. The article about dead money showed how idiotic some of these contracts are, paying guys 15-20M in extreme cases NOT to coach. I wish I had their agents. Many are saying, well, we have no money so we have to endure the complete collapse. Multiple problems IMO with that approach. First, the longer you go the more it hurts recruiting. GC is a dead man walking next year and every recruit knows it. Second, those empty seats last week are empty because somewhere along the way people threw the towel in, many if not most may never come back. Third, I believe it costs more to keep him than to admit the mistake, cut losses and start quickly on the rebuild.

Can Tech get rid of Collins without paying him? Let's see how things play out with Dan Mullen in Florida because I see no way Mullen is their coach in 2022. Florida has a history of dumping coaches without a full buyout. Look at Mcelwain a few years ago. He made a comment about death threats and that voided his contract. Look at Tennessee, the fired Pruitt for cause last year and paid him $0. After an internal investigation they determined all the players who took money and no NCAA sanctions are likely.

The damage Collins is causing is compounded by ugaly having their best season in 40 years. Stansbury needs to get in front of this now.
Stansbury doesnt need to get in front of anything. He should donate his brain to science early or hiring this clown in the first place

At Alabama, Florida, UGA, Auburn the expectation isn’t just winning, the expectation is you will win and be playing for Championships. Mark Richt got fired at UGA and was averaging 10 wins per season.
