Sorry for my first post to be such a downer. Info is on meetthemachine.com. Its free inside info.

Does anyone know why he left? System issues? Not starting? Family matters?

Good luck to him at GSU.

For those who don't want to run to the other site to wade through the thread, it is Trey Dunmon. I'm curious as to why he's leaving as well.

I am not sure if this has anything to do with it or not, but word is the staff is wanting to OL to drop some weight. They would like the kids to get down to around 275 so they can move around a lot better. I imagine this may hurt us with many lineman on the team and with future OL recruiting. It was discussed a lot on Adam's radio show last night. Take it for what it is worth. This is just my guess.

For those of you who don't know me I post as geebee2 on bbuzzoff. No I am not the same geebee2 on the hive my handle is the same on the hive as it is here. Unable to get my geebee2 for here or the hive.

In other words...an OL w/ dreams of playing in the big leagues isn't going to want to drop to 275lbs, i.e. come to Tech....guess it doesn't matter if they don't fit the system.

I hope CPJ knows what he's doing. If this doesn't work, the pieces will be hard to pick up.

Wasn't one of the big criticisms of Gailey was that he was recruiting athletic, smaller linemen who could move???

I do wish the young man luck but at the introduction of PJ's news conference Trey and a couple more players were the only ones that didn't get up and give the coach a standing welcome. Also, from one of the OL coaches, they were worried about his attitude as well.

I thought the kid was aggressive and last season didn't look to be that much over the 275 weight. I do wish him well though.

Possibly, but as Gailey was running a much different system than Johnson, I don't think you can prognosticate the effect it will have on Johnson's team by looking at the effects it had on Gailey's.

No, one of the big criticisms was that he didn't recruit enough offensive linemen. And when he did, he would fill up on them in a single year. It didn't seem like we ever had a consistent pipeline.

But your right, we did seem to recruit smaller linemen than most.

I suspect that this Trey is transferring because he doesn't like the style of play. Going from a pro-style zone blocking scheme to a spread option scheme is a pretty big change. I think Michigan is having similar issues with their line.

I realize that everyone has reasons with their choices to leave the team but how much of this should be attributed to the actual offensive system vs. the general mentality of the team? I guess in other words will we see defensive loses mount as well?

The defense retained alot of the previous staff. So I wouldn't expect the same kind of turnover.

Then, I'll be the first to say welcome. I've read many of YOUR posts on BO. Well worth reading.

Rather have a walk-on who wants it than a 5-star who doesn't...
My sentiments exactly. When I was growing up, I always liked sports because I felt part of a team. I'd never do anything if it wasn't in the best interests of my team and teammates. I don't get the "me first" attitudes of today's athletes.

There's just as much a chance of going pro in PJ's offense as any other if you're good enough. Scouts go on talent and measureables.

What does this mean for folks like JC Lanier or any of our stout DL/OL recruits? Do they bank on the fact that we want them on the DL? Even with our depth at that position?

The me vs. we guys are dropping like flies, Bennett, Peek, J. Johnson, Dunmon, Donley and I am sure a few more will follow.

These guys were not going to give 100% anyway so it is best that we continue to search for someone that will.

Go Jackets!

I dont think you can blame Bennet, he got his degree and just wants to play ball for another year. He'd never see a snap in the new offense and I think we can part ways without any hard feelings there.

Same with Peek, he's a TE, theres no TEs in the offense. Not quick enough to be an A or a B back, and not big enough to be a lineman.
