We still can't block anyone!

Blocking today was atrocious, carry over from last season. I recall one point in particular during the 4th quarter, about 11 mins left. Quick option pitch to Mills and there are 3 red shirts waiting for him. No idea where the WR or AB was. Lucky to get out of here with a W.

I thought that as well. Lots to clean up over the next two weeks with two opponents we should handle.

Pass pro looked pretty good on a few occasions. I thought we should have thrown it a bit more to loosen things up. I liked the smoke routes. That's an easy 6 yards.

They were attacking the box. Still too many whiffs from our OL to set the edge, but not as much penetration. Perimeter blocking was still spotty, but better. Needs improvement all around still.

Pass blocking was worlds better. I didn't think the run blocking was as bad as last year either, despite a few bad plays. Not as many plays with four people in the backfield as I seem to remember.

I think the OL did fine. Pass blocking was very good, and if JT had stayed in the pocket they gave him he would've been able to look for receivers or, as he did on maybe one occasion, run forward for a significant gain.

I don't know what his deal is with thinking he can run backwards and create a big play. This isn't Pee Wee football.

BC defense is really stout... I think we will get better, not sure what we thought we were going to do against the number D from last year...

Some mis reads and mis timing in the backfield made it appear worse than it was. Would it have been nice to see us pile driving folks? Obviously. Let's be patient. Good to be 1-0 with a lot to improve.

I'm going to have to rewatch to be sure, but it seemed like we completely abandoned the TO very early. Not sure what sort of scheme we were running but I recall very little AB motion presnap.

I agreed at first, but there's no denying that last drive. Abacks came through in the end.

The secondary is where I place my concern. Safeties looked lost today. DL pressure is my 2nd.

That is hype. They lost all of their ACC games last year including Wake and Syracuse. If you look at their schedule, it was incredibly weak, OOC was Maine, Howard, and a directional school.

I don't think the run blocking is as bad as it showed today, and I doubt the pass blocking is really that good, either. Coach Johnson evidently complained about the footing and how slippery the long grass was in the rain today, and the announcers noted that it was hurting the pass rush of both teams. It definitely made it tougher for whoever was the aggressor on any given play trying to get any kind of burst within the first 2-3 steps.

Plus, BC's defense is really, really good. You could make an argument that's as good a defense as Tech will see all season.

Pass blocking was great from the o-line, run block was good, a-backs and WR blocking was poor
