We Will Still Think We Are Better Than We Are

I completely agree. We need to find a way for him to be involved in the program. His vision is legit. It’s something we can build. He just doesn’t have a bad cop right now to actually drive his players to be their best beyond believing it to be true.

I'm starting to come around to aspects of this notion.

I've had trouble really putting everything on Collins and the defensive coaches just cause it feels like our defense has been exactly like this since that 08 defensive line graduated and it seemed improbably that we could find that many bad coaches in a row. However, even if the coaches aren't entirely why we are bad, the current set may not be capable of fixing it, with the above being one very plausible reason why.

I actually feel sorry for Collins.
Remember he voluntarily helped Oleary recruit in the 1990s. He’s from the Atlanta area. He loves Georgia Tech. Nobody wants to win more than him. He’s just not there yet in terms of being a head coach. There are a lot of assistant coaches on his staff that love Georgia Tech as much as any of us too. A lot of them played for Technand want to win.
I don't feel sorry for him. He's a big boy who gets paid a lot of money to win. öööö him.

That being said we have a let down possibility from Miami after they beat Pitt.

Or...
Miami, now with back to back wins over NC State and Pitt, has finally figured it out and knows what it's doing.
Their QB threw for 426 today against Pitt.
Now they're looking at a bowl.
I don't see a letdown from Da U.

We are the trap game now. Teams look past us to their next tough game. And in Miami’s case that is Florida State right after us.

it's a rival. but I'm not sure how tough a game FSU is right now.
They can now see a postseason in their future and we're in the way of that.
Now, Notre Dame admitted looking past us - and didn't even bother to practice for us last year. Which is the ultimate sign of belittlement.

It is FSU. Miami is salivating to play them. We are a speed bump to them.

I feel bad for a student body that is going to come away from their years at Tech not giving a rat’s ass about a terrible football program. I feel bad for players who bust their asses for coaches who are completely underwater. I feel bad for small business owners, as few as they are, who would try to make a few dollars from our football games. I feel bad for anyone who watches our team play.

I don’t feel bad for Geoff.

Agreed. It will also be additional empty seats as the old guard moves on.

My daughter (no pics) was in the band '11-'13. She went with her friends to the cesspool and the Orange Bowl in '14. She has the seats next to mine currently. She came from a high school (where she was also in the band) that was terrible at football.

OTOH, as a member of the GT band she had to go to several basketball games and learned to hate the game; Gregory and having to travel to Gwinnett when Alexander was being re-constructed (causing a 5 hour commitment). She couldn't care less about basketball.

He doesn't care about Georgia Tech. He cares about his paycheck. He'll be satisfied if the school can't justify firing him for two more years while he collects a life-changing annual salary before he goes to be a LB coach for the Bills or something.

You think Saban doesn't care about his paycheck when he has it in his contract he has to be the highest paid coach in CFB?

I seriously doubt Collins for some reason doesn't care about losing, but all coaches at that level are in it for the money.

There’s some good pieces running around about his leadership. Note: he’s what used to be referred to as a RS-Fr.

We’ll see how he does, but if he lights us up you have to wonder how a RS-Fr with only 2 attempts last year comes in & averages 300 ypg, 12 TD vs 4 INT, 63% completion rate. Seems an impossible feat if he keeps it up, right?

I believe this too. I hope the best.

At least some earn it.

Its not that far to Gwinnett...
Round trip to Gwinnett with a ball game in the middle during an evening rush hour (on the way there).

Surprised it wasn't 6 hours.

Point stands; ööööty experience at the games = not a fan.

Did you feel that same for those of us in school when we won 1 game per year? Or are you thinking this is really the low point of GT football, because nothing ever happened before you were born?

News flash, 8 years after we won 1 game in a year we won a natty.
