Weis knows...just not telling...

Weis acts like it is going to matter. Deer in the headlights. That's how any of their QB's will look. I have a hard time believing 'ole Jimmy won't see the field at some point.

Chubby Weis's future is in the NFL. He's a "pro." Lack of success at the college level ( 10 wins, BCS) and he'll return to the decent paycheck the National Football League has to offer (in a heartbeat).

Great guy.

Does it really matter who starts at QB? Will their offense take on anything different given differing quarterbacks?

We would probably gameplan a bit differently with regards to our defensive playcalling. Not a huge difference though.

#1) what does sandbagging mean? it explicitly states that he's using it to his advantage... to give him an edge. it's better to have tenuta plan for a mobile and a dropback passer... it's a good strategy.

#2) i can guarantee that GT does not know who the QB is going to be. I don't care if you guys have spies, but all ND practices are closed. the only people who know are those inside the program, and they aren't telling.

#3) it will matter, wannabee. your defense can't focus in on one style of offense -- they will have to split time and practice plays for a mobile QB as well... it reduces the amount of time that Tenuta can spend covering any one offensive scheme.

#4) gnats67, you just showed your ignorance to the ND football program. Weis isn't leaving ND... he's said it over and over... he JUST opened his personal charity in South Bend 2 weeks ago. he's not going anywhere -- don't believe the hype.

#5) i hope your players are as confident as the fans here.

Seriously? Sandbagging is holding onto pertinent information in order to have an advantage over the opponent. His quote says he's not sandbagging yet he goes on to explain that he's witholding info to gain an advantage.

I do agree that the info matters. And I also agree that many GT fans are over-confident, however, I can assure you that the team is not. There are too many seniors that have had too many ups and downs to believe any game is a gimme, much less a road game vs. ND.

charlie weis isn't nick saban. not even close... you guys should know that.

i read his book "No Excuses." he sat down with his family when ND offered him a contract extension. they talked about it and weis told his son, "you know, i could make a lot more as an NFL head coach." and his son replied, "dad, how much money do we really need anyway?" weis agreed... and accepted the offer... for 10 years.

The players are really confident, they know they have the better team and they are ready to prove it. They are ready for whatever QB its between a runner and a pocket passer, they have been practicing against both. Plus GT already knows who the starter is, one of your Lineman spilled the beans.:laugher:

My point was moreso that we would have practiced for either QB either way. Given Weis's history, our coaches know not to trust anything he says - you ND fans should take note of that as well.

RIGHT!! :drink1:

They are.

I really don't expect to see Clausen in this game. After we make the first starter look silly, Clausen will be promoted to the starting role and will throw for 5 touchdowns over each of the service academies, thus accelerating the hype of his college career.

Brandon Cox, Jameel Sewell....can we name some more QB's that made their first career start against us?

The money isn't the reason coaches jump to the NFL. They jump to the NFL because they are competitive, and they have to satisfy their urge. They want to succeed at the highest level, and that is what the NFL is. I have no doubt that Weis will eventually leave for the NFL...how could he not? However, it might not be until after his son is done with Notre Dame...he won't necessarily jump after a couple years.
