What a huge letdown of a game

Gibson supposedly put up good numbers at another D1 program. He was a deer in the headlights most of the 2nd half. Wanted to sit in a pocket our OL couldn’t give him. End of game, after D worked to get us the last possession he just lets the cluck run down then scrambles out of bounds rather than throw an up for grabs. Put the 3rd string in if Sims isn’t healthy next week.

Wildcat. Wildcat would have won us that game. Our defense is good enough to win if we’re not getting sacked or fumbling every other play.

Yeah, I don't know about that. He had some pretty bad falls under pressure. The OL didn't help, but he rushed passes, stumbled a lot, and really didn't look prepared for the game. Makes me wonder how bad the other two guys really are.

FIFY.

There isn't a play maker or go to guy anywhere on this offense, even when Sims is in there. We look small on both lines and DB's looked like dwarfs against UVA even though they played really well. The roster needs to be rebuilt.

We've got 10 days to practice wildcat. I just wish we had a better player on our roster to run it.

That's called "Being coached by Chris Weinke".

I don't get it either. It's like some players never actually watch football and have no idea how game mgmt works. How TF does he not know to spike it there and set up a last play? It's like he's never played QB before nor watched any football whatsoever.
 
In addition to the QB, the same old officiating bunch showed up to do their usual number on Tech. In the first half there were numerous no-calls on holds, another bogus roughing the passer and totally cheating non-call on pass interference. Even with Sims departing later on, that game would have been entirely different at halftime if the calls had been different. ACC refs are consistent. Consistently biased against Ga Tech.

Let's not forget that Calvin Booker was later involved in the fiasco that caused us to be stripped of the ACC title. That alone should be a tie-breaker to put him back to the bottom of the list (or top of the list depending on how you sort it).
 
I've got a HUGE hangover from watching this game and I didn't drink a drop. "Letdown" is mild compared to acid reflux!

Put Nate back there. He’s an athlete and would probably be good at running something like that. Gotta get the ball in the hands of your playmaker(s). Unfortunately many of ours play on the defensive side of the ball.

I think Gibson wasn't use to playing behind the öööötiest offense line in college football and was like öööö this and just ran out of bounds at the end of the game. He probably never had to deal with anything like this in his football career

Sims QBR was 8 & Gibson's was 7. Think you might be looking at completion percentage or something.
