What if Chan is back next year?

Seriously. What if DRad evaluates the program at the end of the season and determines that no coaching change is in order?

Everyone here, especially after last night, thinks it's a foregone conclusion that CCG will become former CCG after the season, if not sooner. Most also are praising the AD as a smart guy who has only made good decisions for Tech. And if DRad makes that decision to keep him, he will very likely not provide an explanation beyond saying that he has determined that it is in our best interests to keep him (if he even makes any announcement at all).

What then?

Clapper, I don't think DRad can keep him. Divided fan base, can't imagine ticket sales sky rocketing and I don't believe next years home schedule is anything to write home about.

Stadium will look like it did when I played.

Honestly at this point I think that is nearly inconcievable.

The stands were empty last night with 15 minutes to play. With that kind of referendum the conclusion is foregone.

I dont' think he can keep him either...when you spend money to promote an event like you do last night, spend money on TV ads (which we have NEVER seen at GT), spend money on various other promotions....and this is the product on the field...the people you may have got in the door, now won't come back. You need to spend that money and sustain. You can't bomb like that.

Secondly, I really believe the divided fanbase is more to the side of firing him now...than it is 50/50. I think its like 70/30 maybe????? Just a guess.

But I just don't see anyway you can keep....IF money wasn't an issue...his buyout is large and I think Rad negotiates a reduced buyout and moves on.

It will be very UGLY...........................................

I'll still buy tickets, I'll still tailgate, and I'll still show up to games.

I'll also spend most of the games making inappropriate jokes about our offense like I did last night.

If we still have Chan as a coach I will still watch games / pull for our team / sing the ramblin wreck / etc, but I won't really have any sort of umm, hope. My hope has been dashed, for the first time since I was in undergrad in the mid 90s.

The AJC (also known and the UGA Alumni Paper) will have a field day. The paper will point out every thing done wrong by Chan and staff, not just a few things as they do now. The AJC will make it impossible for GT to get quality players. The worst part for us as alumni is the hell we will be catching in the offices and outside. With the growth of Atlanta every Yankee that moves here brings his old team with him and then jumps on the Dawgs band wagon. I'll drop to a single ticket, if the line looks bad, I'll play golf on Sat.

I think most will buy tickets but not show up and/or give them away.

I was a supporter for 4 years, fence sitter for 1 and now I want him gone.

He will find a home in the NFL next year.

As opposed to the Tech fans, who do none of these things? Maybe if our team produced like UGA does, the paper would write more favorably about us.

Next yrs team will struggle all next yr NO MATTER WHO iS COACH with so many Srs going (and the talent left)so a new coach can "slide" in easily.

I'll second this, but add buy season tickets.

Here is a very realistic scenario. DRad decides to do nothing because he is taking the LSU AD job in January when it opens up. Which throws us into chaos trying to find another AD and then allow him to deal with Chan which obviously wouldn't happen until next season.

The above is my guess as to what happens, unless Chan resigns which I honestly think is a possibility at seasons end.

I agree John. I will still buy my tickets --probably still go to games early in the season --but the first sign of the inevitable "Gailey Way" I'll be handing my tickets off for someone else to use. I'm not going to continue to sit through this next season.

Dan will be here.

Gotta agree Alagold. Next year will be a struggle either way. I can't imagine how it would be if we end up going through a very bad year with CCG at the helm. The only way to keep next year from totally fracturing our fan base is to move on to a new coach and generate some excitement even if there aren't that many W's next year.

BTW: I grew up in Huntsville and my wife still has family there. Great town.

I want him gone but I fear that we cannot come up with the cash to get it done. AND if he should somehow make a bowl game this year (beating Duke and or NC) it is my understanding that the Braine written contract is extended for an additional year. If this is correct he could continue to produce mediocre teams, continue to get extensions and we will never be rid of him.

I do think the fan base is shifting heavily to getting him out.

The bowl extension was only for the first year after the new extension was signed. It does not extend if we go to a bowl game. The contract is up at the end of 2011.
