what position on the team concerns you the most?

Slightly different question

I'm not real worried about any one area. Linebacker could be a problem, but I think we have two good ones who will play faster this year. I saw the 5 dbs, 2 linebacker thing coming since February. O-line could be a problem, but they were getting better last year, the starters return, and there's some younger talent to push them. But when I ask myself What could go wrong this year?, I come back to Law Bee's case.

Our smallish defensive line. We sometimes face teams with really huge offensive lines. One way to stop our offense is to play Gailey ball against us. At half time of the Virginia game, I think it was, Coach Johnson said WTTE that it was hard to say whether the offense had played poorly or not, since the defense could never seem to get the ball back from Virginia. A team with a big line and a big back like Perriman could hog the ball and keep our offense off the field.

We cannot know how our guys would play against that kind of line until it happens -- we don't have that kind of offensive size to test them with in practice. But we had a bigger line last year and they didn't fare too well against oversized offensive lines.

I think the improved play of the LB and DB corps will offset our small DL. In the case of the UVA game, the DL did get pushed around, but what stuck out to me was the poor tackling by our LB's and DB's.

Defensive tackle - if we are not strong up the middle against the run it keeps us from doing what we need to do on defense. A player like Richard did not make all that many plays, but he did not get blown off the line and he occupied blockers. The new guys have to step up.

QB. Jaybo is slow. So slow that it seems that our RB's have to slow down on pitch plays - when he will even pitch it. He keeps it way too much.

We need Washington to improve his passing ability by fall or Luallen or Sims to come in and be ready to play.

I am not worried about any of the defense or the OL like some here. Our OL is gonna just piss off a lot of teams this year by just being nasty all game. Some opposing players are gonna be more worried about having their legs taken out from under them than pursuing our ball carriers.

There are several teams on our schedule that are going to just get torn to shreads by our offense. The team that plays that team the next week should send us a thank you letter for beating up the opposition for them.
