What would it take?

Better coaching from his coordinators and himself. Beat teams were supposed to beat! Get to a bowl game.

Clearly the juice train has derailed. No one is arguing that. No one is happy with the season so far. The question becomes, what would Collins need to do to get you back on the juice train? Since we're all just pulling hypotheticals out of the deepest darkest holes of each other's moms, anything goes - other than Collins being fired or resigning.

This type of analysis ignores the opportunities the other team lost. Mason’s fumble and the illegal punt formation were probably a 21 pt swing in our favor. Let that sink in. We could have easily lost to NIU by 3 TDs at home.

What do I need to get back on the CGC train? Either a bowl game (I’ll take a 5-8 season) or shuffling the staff in a way that makes sense based on the season’s results.

Sims is a talented athlete. He has the physical skills to be a good QB. Our QB coach did not have him mentally prepared to go SAT night. We definitely need to see out QB’s perform at a much higher level ie…like a Ralph Friedgen coached QB.
On a side note … talked to a buddy of mine who has two sons starting for KSU on defense. He says they are foaming at the mouth for the opportunity to play & beat Tech.

Beat Georgia. That's it. 1-11 or 11-1, I don't give a öööö.

If Geoff Collins beats UGA, I'll get a bottle of juice tattoo on my ass.

I have zero faith in Tech coming anywhere close to beating the mutts this year.

If you have no faith, then make it an epic bet. If we beat uga, get a tattoo of a bottle of Juicy Juice on your junk. That will teach you not to tempt the fates.

Pitt, Duke, UVA, BC, KSU, and NIU are all beatable. We MUST win at least 3 of those games and then at least 1 of the games against the better opponents.

I don't know how to define what'll get me back on the juice train, but I'll know it when I see it.
Exactly. Ross; O'Leary; Johnson - I always had the feeling they were in control of the game (except when physically overmatched). Ross and his staff were masters of Xs and Os. Remember O'Leary kicking a FG on third down vs the dwags? Remember being down in Athens with 18 seconds left?

Remember the Citadel game when Collins didn't know what to do?

He's not a game manager. He's a General Manager. As long as Collins is wearing the headset, we will lose no less than 4 games a season just on game day adjustments and game day decisions.

Remember when CPJ would ask the offense "want to score a TD on the next play?" Recall the first play of the 2nd half in Athens in 2008. Collins will never be able to do that. He leaves everything to the OC & DC who are honest, hardworking guys but they can't out coach the guys we face week in and week out.

It gives me no joy to basically say I have seen all I need to see to know that the current staff will do little more than tread water.

Treading would preferable to the drowning going on now.

T-Dope needs to be shown the door as well. 7 year contract with such a crazy buyout was an incredibly dumb thing to do. Didn’t the school give T-Dope a loan/money to pay off money he owed Oregon St?

Early on in CPJ’s tenure I would agree with this. The last few years it didn’t matter how much he knew. We were getting blown off the line on both sides of the ball. Defense was never good enough to hold a lead. The offense couldn’t finesse enough to win on its own. CPJ was outmatched for the last few years.

Hence my disclaimer in the games where we were physically overmatched. The issue is coaching ability. Collins doesn't have it.

I'll become a Collins if if he shows a little class by resigning so we don't have to pay the buyout.
best of all worlds,we can find someone better.
I’m sure when he reads your post he’ll do just that.

Morons.

Only thing comforting me right now is that people who have watched practice, KQ, Roddy, some other people I know, say that this team looked WORLDS BETTER in practice and in camp than they did on Saturday. That doesn't explain anything, but it gives me a glimmer of hope.

I think teams almost always look better in practice than they do in game.

We sitting here, I'm supposed to be a franchise player, and we here talkin' bout practice.

I think it explains a lot. I think it means we got outcoached on gameday. I'm not trying to be Captain Obvious.

O'Leary had an expression that I thought was very apt - he said that one of his goals was to make the other team "play left-handed". I think that is exactly what NIU did to us. I remember the NIU coach in a meeting on Friday night (so obviously at the team hotel) saying that is when they came up with the 2-point play they would call if they needed it.

I'm glad to hear we look great playing against a mirror - let's see how we do against a team that actually studied our team to figure out how to make us play left-handed.
