bring in Paul Johnson as offensive coordinator
No. Just no.bring in Paul Johnson as offensive coordinator
As one who has never been on the Coach Waffle House train, this really isn't the thread for me. I will always be on the Tech train though, no matter what happens. I also only predicted a 4-win season. Still, at this point, my attitude will improve with any ONE of the following:
Exceed the 4-win total.
Stop the stupid Money Down crap before the third game.
Beat UGA(g)
I respect all the points and perspectives in this post, but I don't get all the extreme hate for money down. It's lame as öööö, I get that, but I don't get why it makes so many of our fans so extremely butthurt.
To me, the “money down” is cheesy/tacky that might be dreamed up by a high school team. As a result, it comes off as if they don’t take 3rd down seriously.I respect all the points and perspectives in this post, but I don't get all the extreme hate for money down. Another one?If you have no faith, then make it an epic bet. If we beat uga, get a tattoo of a bottle of Juicy Juice on your junk. That will teach you not to tempt the fates.

If you have the D to make 3rd down into an actual "Money Down", that would be one thing. Not being able to deliver makes over hyping the down that much worse.
In other words, it should be used sparingly and when we do, we damn well better have the horses and a play to stop them.
On a separate note, not having the less in-your-face 3rd Down Chords removes our ability to bring some of our home atmosphere to away games. The GTAA almost always sends at least a portion of the band to away games and it is great to hear our band at an away game on a 3rd down.
Cause it is ööööing dumb.
Then the inference is that Stansbury is as bad as the hiring AD as Collins has shown himself to be as a head coach?Unfortunately, Geoff Collins has convinced me beyond any doubt whatsoever that he will never be a good football coach.
He will be the winning coach this Saturday and one or two more times this year, because we play some very weak competition. But, he won't ever put a fundamentally sound team on the field.
But, to rise in my estimation, here are some things he could do without even having to be a decent coach:
1 - Be honest. Quit standing in the rain and telling us it's sunny.
2 - Show that he at least knows enough about football to see this is a fundamentally unsound team.
3 - Take responsibility.
4 - Hold himself, his coordinators, his coaches, his support staff, and his players accountable.
5 - Replace his coordinators.
6- Let somebody else be in charge of game day decision making.
7 - Represent Tech the way Tech deserves to be represented.
Doing these things will not make him a good football coach. That's a gift he was not given. But, doing these things will help him and the people around him. I think these things are the most we can hope for from Collins, and the very least we should tolerate between now and when he's replaced.
Our team was 105th in the nation in opponent conversion rate two years ago and 108th last year. Frankly, screaming Money Down and holding up signs seems to embolden the opposition more than it inspires our defense. I think I mentioned it a while back in another thread. I was talking to a friend who was at UF when Collins was there and asked him what he thought about our coach. His first comment was, "Is he still doing that stupid Money Down thing?".The question is, why are fans butthurt about it?
FHstinger was never on it.Clearly the juice train has derailed. No one is arguing that. No one is happy with the season so far. The question becomes, what would Collins need to do to get you back on the juice train? Since we're all just pulling hypotheticals out of the deepest darkest holes of each other's moms, anything goes - other than Collins being fired or resigning.

Yeah, we know. We don’t care, but we know.FHstinger was never on it.
Gooff Collins is a joke. 0-12.
But how does a chant compare to BLARING it over the PA system? Of course it'a dumb but more than that it's embarrassing. Also, we have such a hard time stopping teams on third down which makes it even MORE embarrassing. I hate it mostly because it is just bad juju. The question isn't "is it dumb". It's obviously dumb. The question is, why are fans butthurt about it? There's plenty of other dumb, cheesy chants across college football that dumbasses embrace. Just look at the SEC west with all the rammer jammer rhymes that their dumbasses collectively jargon off. I'd be embarrassed wearing a GT shirt around another GT fan saying dumb öööö like that.
Money down is dumb, but I don't hold it as a point of contention for keeping the coach.
