Where Are They Now: Reggie Ball

if i was playing at the park with 10 friends, reggie might be a 7th or 8th selection overall

wait a minute , tho. you're a big arena fan? wtf? please explain how that happened.

Reggie won the starting QB spot as a true freshman. Has that ever happened at Tech before?

There were several substitutions at QB during Reggie's tenure. Were any of the substitutions satisfactory?

Wasn't Damarius Bilbo one of the most highly recruited QBs in the nation?

How many QBs were recruited during Reggie's tenure?

How has Reggie's offensive coordinator performed since leaving Tech?

Who thinks Reggie would have had more success under CPJ?

It ain'[t RB's fault that ccg is an idiotic, egotistical POS coach.

Funny, I was watching Sports Center yesterday, and they were talking about how Cam Newton would benefit if he was drafted by the Bills because of Chan Gailey's "offensive mind".

I almost spit out my food in a combination of shock and laughter.

Why not just leave the guy along. He played his heart out at Tech. He just had to play for "Gomer" Gailey, enough said.

what i heard is bilbo couldnt learn the offense and they made him a wide out.he was most sought after qb in thesouth as a senior in high school and only time i saw him play was in the emerald bowl when we were getting killed.he did rather well as a relief qb that game.i dontthink ball would have made it at qb for pj,too many hits on his body.of course we will never know but its clear chan liked him and never changed for four years.

I agree, leave the poor guy alone. He played tough and won a few games he shouldn't have.

If he was that bad Gailey should have recruited a replacement. Ball did the best with what he was given.

Some of the comments in this thread are ridiculous.

He's finally able to come back after blowing out his knee, he's playing in the IFL to get some game tape to send out to teams for one last chance, and people still take shots at him.

I don't know whats more ridiculous, that people get upset over bashing Ball, or that people think Gailey was soooooo terrible.

Whatever makes you feel like CPJ is some kind of savior, I guess.

Well for one, CPJ is kind of fantastic and especially when you compare him to Gailey.

Two, we are all hardcore, devoted tech fans here. What we do is love the game and we love tech, so for people to get upset at Reggie I think is understandable. His infamous 4th down screw up, along with losing to UGAy all of his years here makes for a saddened and angry fan. Now, I, nor should any person, solely blame Reggie for his mess up, as well as no one should wish ill things to Reggie himself and his future. If I met him in person would I spit on him? No. Would I even say anything mean to him? Absolutely not. But I can still be sore about the past.

However, personally I wish every Tech player a good future and it hurts every year losing some great boys (Nesbitt and Allen this last year), but I'm more concerned with Tech and their present football team above all else.

how can you argue with an ACC championship his second year here?

you're right, 1 acc championship means a coach is fantastic. hell, paul hewitt took us to the ncaa championship game

i know its the support-your-team thing to do to rally behind the current coach, but CPJ hasn't been as stellar as everyone wants to believe. I'll talk to you in a few years and you can quote me on this when we talk again.

exhibit A: bowl games, look em up

I was at one, and watched the other. CPJ isn't the greatest coach to live, I will be the first to agree. But I suppose unlike you, I'm an eternal optimist and I believe he is and will be the best thing for Tech. I love his coaching mentality and the way he handles himself on and off the field. He demands respect from his team and could care less about people who dislike him. He does his job and if last season would've been better I doubt anyone would be doubting him.

well, bravo for you for being the optimist. somehow i don't find ****ting all over chan's time here and the man to be much more noble than dissing CPJ

Except that Chan is gone and CPJ is currently running our program. I was very restrained in my criticism of Chan while he was here and I extend that courtesy and respect to any coach currently in charge of any one of our athletic teams. Including CPH.

Just because I don't spill my guts about every deficiency of every coach and every athlete every chance I get doesn't mean I don't know what is really going on. This is true of a number of posters on StingTalk.

It might not be more noble but it is a little more respectful.

Just a sidebar on second sentence or paragraph,he had number 21` to throw do and thats a pretty good gift. No,his attitude and behavior is what ticked me off,his its just a game dog remarks are hard to forgive. But in the end if anybody deserves the praise and the hits its Chan,he is the Coach who is responsible.I hope RB does well at whatever he does but I always felt like he was not qb caliber for us but we seemed to do little to replace him.
