I’m tired of all the speculating. I’m not a big donor, not an alum, just a lifelong sidewalk fan who actually ended up being an alum of UGA. I just want JBatt to make the right hire, and I’d prefer he make that decision with his own merit and not from big donor pressure.

The right hire should ultimately put our football team into a position where they have a chance to win any game. Sure, we’re not going to win every game, but we should be able to field a team that has a legitimate shot to win any game, and that includes games vs Clemson, UGA, Notre Dame … whoever.

Like most of us, I just hoped we wouldn’t get embarrassed yesterday. I was so elated after that first quarter that carried into halftime. Sitting there at halftime down by 3 to the #1 team/hated rival, having outgained them in yardage, feeling that we could actually pull it off. We know how it ultimately ended, but again, back to my point, hire a coach that will put us in position to feel that we can win any game, which was pretty much where we were as a program during the O’Leary and Johnson years.

See this is the issue. This creates a perception that there are multiple corroborating sources when in fact it is a bunch of people all quoting the same rumor.

Those in the know are saying that Batt is keeping everything very secretive.So anything else being reported, other than Batt has interviewed 4 candidates, is just unsubstantiated rumor at this point.

is this rumor an inside rumor, unsubstantiated rumor, regular rumor or KQ rumor?

If one believes Occam's Razor . . . he'll hire Key. And not at some discount, either. And probably four or five years. It's the most Georgia Tech Football thing he could do.

As far as a timeline, I would imagine that JBatt created that timeline for himself; nobody else put him on it. That's not to say that he will live or die by that timeline, but I am sure that for the good of the team he would certainly like to. As far as Chadwell's name being on anyone else's list, again I can only repeat UNCONFIRMED reports. Although WVA was initially named as one, later that seems to have been dropped and USF added. If he is still interested in Tech but ends up at USF, that sure doesn't make Tech look good.

Most recently they bowed to TStan last winter and voted not to fire Collins, even though they had the money. That's why TSTan got fired this Fall too. Imagine how things might have gone this year with a different coach from day 1. They have also held back their money in the past for reasons known only to them.

OK, you can ignore this or pooh me if you wish, but a friend said he saw all this on 247Sports. I checked that site, and I don't see any mention of Chadwell, USF, OR Tech at all. So I don't know where he got this or what to believe. Regardless, I will pass it on to further add to the confusion....LOL

As of noon, 1: Chadwell is headed to USF; 2: Luke fickell is heading to Wisconsin; 3: Hugh freeze is heading to auburn; 4: Matt Campbell is the front runner for Cincinnati now

Chadwell wanted to bring his whole staff from coastal and that slowed everything down, so it brought everything to Bob,Willie and Key. As of last night Willie was the front runner, but at noon donors said they would not fork the money out to help support Tech if it’s him, and now Key is getting pushed to get the job again. Very weird situation going on but this is not something we can drag out.

Take all this for what it is worth, which may be nothing at all.

Makes you wonder if all this info is disinformation from J Batt/board to keep everybody off track.!
 
Whatever the case boosters are right on this if its between Fritz and Key and Batts needs to get out of his feels and wanting his hire be it...if thats actually the case?

This does not seem far-fetched. If you are in the inner circle you have already been asked to chip in for the $10M+ buyout. If you think Fritz could put you right back in the same spot in 3 years a Key contract looks appealing from a "let's get this financial house in order first" perspective.
 
Two messages from a FB friend, whom I also know personally. Frankly, he seldom has much, if any credibility, but he got this info from somewhere, so I will pass it along. I have no idea if it means anything or not. I PRAY it doesn't -----

(1) Willie Fritz is not with his team today preparing for the UCF game it’s looking like we are about to make another bad hire,
(2) A lot of things going on. A private jet is leaving out of New Orleans at 330 and is traveling to PDK airport in Dekalb, a lot are saying it’s Willie, but he was interviewed last Monday, so .....
