Who then??

Petrino - I assure you he will not take a job anywhere with recruiting restrictions.

Brian Kelly - definitely worth a look.

Edsall - I like him but he's not exactly lights out at UConn.

Solich - An ornery old drunk - beware of guys who have been fired or run off by their alma mater.

It looks like that program is falling apart without him there now.

...which might mean he was heavily responsible for their success last year. Agree with mm42 about recruiting restrictions though.

I hear Lloyd Carr might be available after the season. :laugher:

And let me be the first to put in the name of the great speech slurrer, Lou Holtz - He does give some good pep talks :laugher: - anything to get him off of ESPN.

In all seriousness though, I dont know enough about all the other coaches out there, but trust that DRad will move us in the right direction if it's needed.

Guys, we're in a tough situation if we fire a head coach with a winning record. It turns lots of other candidates off.

My GUESS is that if we go 8-4 or better with one of the eight being UGA, then Chan stays and the rest is academic. However, if he goes, I would imagine that our new coach will be someone "out of the blue" like DRad was (we were thinking Bill Curry) and Bobby Cremins (from where?). As a matter of fact, I would not be too surprised if the new head coach came from the LSU staff.

I don't think that would in this case since the HC has been here 6 years. If he was fired after a couple of years that would turn off other coaches.

My guess is that other coaches are out there saying what the hell is going on in ATL? With that talent .571 is not very good, and I would have to agree.

Also dont think it is a tough sell when you look at the fact that he has yet to beat our rival school. I think many people would understand that. Basic economics...when your coach causes fewer butts to be in the seats, thereby brining in less $, you make a change. Anyone interested in coaching at any school should understand that fact.

That being said, I am not giving up my season tickets just to prove a point. Our players on the field always deserve our support...

I don't think that's true Esso. If they ask and we tell them we had a coach with a 7-5 record basically for 6 years, they'll understand. Coaches know what they deal is and they all have enough ego to think they can do better.

Bobby Petrino might be sick of the NFL after the year he's having so far.
