At least you didn't pull for a hurricane in either of the first 2.

VT @ LSU VT - ACC over SEC any day.
Miami @ Oklahoma - This one's a toss-up for me. UM is ACC, but I can't stand the THUGS U. That could apply to VT as well, but LSU is SEC so that trumps the Thugness.
NCSU @ BC BC - NCSU lost to a nobody. A win over BC would be another blow to the ACC.
Nebraska @ Wake Wake - Wake is still the underdog in every game despite being ACC Champs last year.
Notre Dame @ PSU PSU - Get 'em Jo Pa!!
Duke @ UVA Duke - Just because
USC-East @ UGA ;) Really? Is there a question here? Shame on you!!
USF @ Auburn Hmmmmm... Not sure. Probably USF due to AUB being SEC and AUB alum being close to the family.

I agree almost down the whole line. As much as I hate ND, since we clobbered them, it would look better for us if they had some success now. Which is better, to say we beat a mediocre/bad team 33-3 or to say we beat a solid/better than average team 33-3.

I'd love to see USF beat Auburn for two reasons: 1) I live in Alabama, and I'm more than sick of both bama and awbern fans (but to be fair, the bammers are much, much more obnoxious with the coming of Jesus.. I mean, Nick Saban), and 2) Knock some sense into the whole "we're the best dad burn conference in the world and everywhere else plays pee-wee football" SEC.

Just to vent a little, living in Alabama you get the impression from the locals that all of football exists for Alabama and Auburn. Other college teams are there only so UA and AU will have someone to play the other 11 weeks they aren't playing each other. All high schools are to produce players for AU and UA (and the lesser players can go to the other schools, who again would not exist if it were not for the Bama schools). And the NFL is only there so UA and AU folks can watch their "graduates" for a few more years. So on that note, go Vandy! Help end the Saban worship around here.

Cheer for ACC over every other conference no matter how much you hate them.

In-conference I cheer for the favorites. Let the crappy teams stay at the bottom and the good teams stay at the top in a national spotlight.

Any team we play I hope does well, I hope ND runs the table pretty much at this point. It just makes us look that much better. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely hate ND.

When I think about it, I hate pretty much every team that is not GT. So I cheer for the teams that will benefit us and the ACC the most.

You make a very valid point. It means nothing towards our BCS hopes as SOS was removed a few years ago, but it means everything to our image. But no matter what ND does from here on out, we still will not get much credit for their "rebuilding" game.

When one of your opponents is playing there are two ways of looking at it - if they win, it makes your schedule strength improved. But, winning is contagious, and a future opponent probably will be easier to beat the more they have lost.

With that said, I'll be pulling for LSU to give VT a loss, Oklahoma to beat Miami, NCSU to beat BC, since we play the Eagles next week, I'll take Wake for the ACC's sake, Notre Dame to beat Penn State, Duke to upset UVA, and old loyalties will cause me to pick Auburn.

Why would anyone ask who we want to win when the roosters play the dawgs? Isn't the answer obvious?

NCSU to beat BC, since we play the Eagles next week,

You could look at it another way - pull for BC to absolutely clobber NCSU to create as much arrogance as possible and increase the likelihood of a letdown against the Jackets.

I don't know which theory actually prevails, but this seems like another way to look at it to me.

I'll pull for:
Miami over Oklahoma (gotta pull for family...arrggh)
BC over NCSt (keep ACC high; BC is other division)
Wake over Nebraska (family, academic schoo, etc.)
ND over Penn St (helps our SOS)
Duke over Virginia (lets keep UVA down)
anyone over UGA (self-explanatory)
SF over Auburn (always pull against the SEC)

sorry 77...it just makes no sense at all to pull against ACC out of conference. This is the exact chance to earn much needed respect for the conference so we get the automatic pre-season rankings (huge advantage) without doing a thing..."down years" would then be called "rebuilding years"...and we can earn better bowl placements...and oh yeah, improve perception among recruits.

...particularly ACC/SEC matchups!!

Where is the old "JTS Order of Operations" when you need it?

(from memory, correct me if I'm wrong JT)

1. For Tech
2. Against UGA
3. Against the rest of the Axis of Evil (Bama, UT)
4. For ACC
5. Against SEC
6. For teams we play against in our schedule (#6 may not apply anymore since they neutered the BCS formula)
7. The Underdog

Based on the tried and true Order Of Operations, we root

for VT @ LSU
for Miami @ Oklahoma
against NCSU @ BC
against Nebraska @ Wake
for Notre Dame @ PSU
for Duke @ UVA
for USC-East @ UGA ;)
for USF @ Auburn

It's very simple. Learn the program.

Yeah, I remember this from last year, but I'm not about to go searching through threads for it. I'm sure this will come up again next year too.

Under most circumstances I would agree with you --I dare say that I probably loathe ND as much or moreso than I do UGA.

The only reason I am pulling for ND this weekend is because all week I've listened to the college football talking heads opinionate about what a long year it will be for the Irish --their offense is terrible, it's a rebuilding year, etc. I know that ND is down --but there has been too much focus on what ND may or may not be --and IMO not enough on GT's preparation and execution against the Irish.

If ND were to defeat Penn State then there might be a little more national appreciation for what GT did in South Bend. Besides, it's not at all hard for me to pull against Penn State.
