Who was it that asked for something besides the band at halftime?

The lyrics of my/our (depending on age) youth can't go blameless --but I think a big difference is, all the way back to the 50's through the 80's is that for the most part the music of our youth used a lot of double entendres in the lyrical content.

You make good points, but that music, if controversial back then, was never played at Tech halftime.

google big boi and pick ANY song of his at random...and most likely you'll see similar negative or disgusting lyrics to what has already been posted in this thread. Now will he clean those up for a halftime performance on our field? probably so, but why even give an artist this type of forum..at our halftime game??? makes no sense. Not opposed to performers at halftime, black or white, but let's have someone who is at least more appropriate for this type of setting. I want to know why those here keep defending having a rapper play at halftime whose lyrics most of the time would be offensive to them....

-----------------------
You let me violate you, you let me desecrate you
You let me penetrate you, you let me complicate you
Help me I broke apart my insides, help me I’ve got no soul to tell
Help me the only thing that works for me, help me get away from myself
I want to **** you like an animal
I want to feel you from the inside
I want to **** you like an animal
My whole existence is flawed
You get me closer to god
You can have my isolation, you can have the hate that it brings
You can have my absence of faith, you can have my everything
Help me tear down my reason, help me its' your sex I can smell
Help me you make me perfect, help me become somebody else
I want to **** you like an animal
I want to feel you from the inside
I want to **** you like an animal
My whole existence is flawed
You get me closer to god

ncjacket says this is interesting and funny.. go figure.

I never said our black players would like it. I said our players would. Did you see the reaction last year when Andre 3000 was on the sideline during a Thursday night game?

Much of their music is about the streets obviously. The question is whether what you read is what they mean. But this is all besides the point as you know they will have a cleaned up version or do something other than that kind of song anyway. I see you're up to your old tricks though. I said much of their music, not every song. But don't let a distinction like that get in the way of a rant.

Oh and if you don't think Alice Cooper ever used vulgarity or bad language, you much not have seen him live.

No --Alice Cooper never used bad language or vulgarity when I saw him. In his songs that I am most familiar with he's never used bad language either. The man's put out over 20+ studio albums during his long career and I'm not going to pretend that I know the lyrics to all of his songs. He's pushed the envelope as a performer --the first of his kind-- but I can virtually guarantee that his catalog contains nothing to the extremes of what I've read on this thread.

I must have missed the performance of Alice Cooper way back at a Tech halftime. Get the point??? Certain music has and always will be controversial, but that kind of controversial music doesn't need to played a the halftime of a Tech game. Alice Cooper didn't play then and big boi shouldn't play now at Tech halftime.

For once and for all, the majority of his lyrics are simply trash and for you to pretend they don't exist or don't offend at least the majority of people is funny. That music has a place and audience, but not at this type of venue.

And once and for all, those lyrics will not be part of the halftime show so what's your point?

More than likely he will be playing "Morris Brown"...I say this because it involves a marching band in the actual song. If you do a search for the lyrics I'm sure you won't find anything too offensive.

since there are so many here that are SO familiar with big boi (since yesterday), I don't have to share any more of his lyrics with you since you obviously agree with all that is rap for a Tech halftime show.

For those who don't know and are not experts on big boi since learning his name yesterday, I shared alot of his lyrics in this thread. In case you're wondering what you'll hear on the Flats at halftime where his lyrics are put to music, I've attached below a link to one of his biggest hits.

Can't wait to hear a little bit of techwood inside the stadium... should be fun!

Thanks ncjacket, but not sure he will listen to you. He has his agenda...Geetee, get off your pedistal. He won't be rapping a song like that. You really think that DRad and others would allow something like that? Do you really think the GT band would want to be associated with that? I don't "celebrate his entire collection", but he and 3000 had quite a few good songs that were not gansta rap. The music will be fine, the team, recruits, students, and many many fans will enjoy it. I for one welcome a halftime show that will not make me want to get up and leave my seat (no offense to any band members)...

Again...look up the lyrics to "Morris Brown" This is the song he made WITH A MARCHING BAND. And he is playing at halftime WITH MARCHING BAND. Notice any parallels GeeTee?

Thanks...for the same link....to a song that he is not going to sing......

Who would you like to see play at halftime?

You guys are just encouraging this UGAg sock puppet by arguing with him - attention is all he is looking for anyway.

FWIW, i don't really think it's called 'Rap' anymore...

probably not since the middle 90's has it been called 'Rap'. The kids these days call it 'Hip Hop'...
