Why does Tenuta get a pass?

Glennon was ranked lower in efficiency than Bennett going into this game and what did he have, 300 yds passing?? One of the weakest offenses in the NCAA--without their #1 QB-- torched us.

I realize the defense just wore down, but we were poor on both sides of the ball.

Our D was tired because they were on the field all night. What was our longest drive on O, 2 minutes?

Throwing interceptions does not help much in terms of keeping the defense rested.

He doesn't. This has been a recurring theme. I wouldn't be the least bit disappointed if he was gone too.

Seconded. Like I said to somebody today, the zone blitz is kind of like the defensive equivalent of the spread offense. If it's working, you look like a SOOPER GENIUS!

If it's not, then you might as well spin the great decision making wheel.

Dude the defense sucked long before they were tired.

I think Glennon just completed another out pattern.

1. Because he is not the head coach
2. He has saved Gailey's ass more times than you can count
3. He has done more with less than anyone around and everyone in Div 1 knows it
4. Did I say because he's not the Head Coach who gets 1Million+ a year? The buck stops there
Thats why he gets a pass. You can only save a pathetic offense so many times in 6 years and clearly we dont have the linebackers or db's this year that have speed or near the talent as we have (freshmen are better talented but dont play as much now)
End of story on this one

They owned TOP because they were converting third downs like crazy, especially in the 1st. Our D couldn't get off the field. Thay played well at times but were ineffective at stopping Glennon.

Tenuta deserves to be critized just like any other coach. Yes, he's saved us many times but that was the past. I'm not saying he should be fired, but he is not off limits by any means. He's also one of the highest paid coordinators in the country.

Haha. I was thinking the same thing during the game. It's like madden where you keep running the same play over and over and it keeps working. He kept throwing that out to the right side for 7-8 yards every time.

One problem our D seems to have is that they almost ALWAYS give up a big play after a turn over.

You're not a REAL Tech fan. What you don't realize is that somebody will step up. We just have to stick to our game plan.

The D gave up a 16 play drive on the first possession. It was BC all over again.

Tenuta maybe gets a pass because we are 19th in the NCAA in scoring defense, and 11th in the NCAA (2nd in the ACC) in points allowed. Seriously...if we fire Tenuta we're in bad shape. VT did what any team playing a blitzing defense should do, find the quick outs and wear down the defense. We didn't adjust very well...but with the offense giving up six turnovers it really didn't matter what the defense did.

Yeah, I thought that 71 yard pass completion on 3rd and 15 was pretty boneheaded too. But Tenuta's schemes work more times than they don't, while our offense has consistently been one of the worst in the NCAA for several years now.

DUMBASSES!

I have one word for you: Twenty-four!

That's right. 24.

Twenty-four is the average number of points scored by a college football team.

If our defense gives up 27 points, then they had an off night. But only by about 3 points.

Our offense scored THREE measly points. And it wasn't even really our offense. It was special teams. But since the O had to get them in position, I'll be generous enough to give them the credit.

But 27 is a whole lot closer to that mystical average of 24 than is THREE.

As Rutger Hauer once said: You figure it out. You're a smart kid.

This is one of those times when stats can be pretty decieving. When you look at the rankings for total defense you'll find 5 ACC teams in the top 25, (with of course VT at the top of the ACC as always). When you look at the total offense rankings you'll find like 1 ACC school in the top 25. That basically means you have good defenses playing against crappy offenses and thus showing up in the top of NCAA overall rankings.

Here's some more numbers for you Bunger:

22 of 32 for 296 yards
9 - 20 third down efficiency
6.1 average gain per play
4.5 yards per carry for B. Ore
128.5 Sean Glennon's average yards per game this year

Sean Glennon lit us up for 296 yards, completing 68% of his passes, 0 interceptions, 2 TDs.
