Why is no one calling out CPJ?

for his time out management late in the game?

I don't think that was his call. He was yelling at Nesbitt and Voss pretty hardcore during the timeout. I think he burned it, because we were way out of position on the fourth down play.

I thought it was good. We had almost four minutes to drive for a touchdown...and if Nesbitt doesn't overthrow(or did Jones slow down?), then we have a TD there. If not, we still had like two minutes and two time outs left, plenty of time.

I thought we had to go for it on the fourth down after that. We got the ball back with only 30 seconds left because we didn't make it, and at our own five. At that point, there's really not much clock management you can do. We certainly have more important things to work on in practice these days besides hail mary/hook and lateral plays.

EDIT: Misread. Thought you said "time management." Anyway, I didn't have a problem with his timeout management either. We burned that one time out, but it's not like we wasted it if we weren't lined up right...that was a pivotal play. Blame him or the players for not getting lined up right if you want, but he had to call the time out.

we lolly gagged and couldnt get the play off in time. We were walking up to the LOS with 6 seconds on the play clock.

Dont blame PJ.

PJ can't make people catch passes hitting them in the numbers.

Personally ... I'm thrilled that PJ gets absolutely pissed. I can't tell you how happy it makes me to see the head coach red faced and screaming after a loss instead of "gee golly well shucks our guys played their precious little hearts out and came up short." ... to be followed up by an ugly 9-6 type win over a juggernaut like Duke.

Previous coaching staff wouldn't have been given a pass under the same circumstances. Head coach's job is clock management and it wasn't handled well at the end of the game.

We did enough things poorly (missed tackles, poor interior line play, TOs) over the course of the game - we have no business blaming the officiating.

Even with all of that said, the game was very encouraging that we can play that poorly, not have many (if any) breaks, and show the guts to come back and tie the game after being down by 8 in the 4th Q. I like the way Nesbitt plays under pressure.

You make allegations without stating facts that might tend to support your position. Until you do, your allegations are without any credibilty whatsover.

Your mother is ugly, and I have never seen her. My point is as valid as yours.

Because we like CPJ... at least for now. If this happened a few more times then people would call him out for it.

Honestly... Im not mad about the timeout situation. He called one because he had to. We'll never know anymore detail than that.

I'm not mad about it - it should be questioned, though. And I'm definitely not saying it was the difference between winning and losing.

The facts are:
We wasted a timeout on 4th and 8 with <3min to go.
The HCs responsibility is clock management.

This seems like a pointless discussion, because the above quote is your real point. I don't care to have anymore arguments about Gailey. I'm sorry that you do.

I agree it is a pointless discussion (bringing Gailey into it). I like what I see from CPJ and staff - they've far exceeded my expectations to this point. I've seen more guts in the last 2 games than in the last 7 years.

I was ok with his time mgmt at the end. It was his inconsistency between the 1st and 2nd halves that was so frustrating. We had one chance to win late because our offense is not a strike quick offense espeically against a prevent defense.

Why in the world we didn't head to the lockerroom up 9-7 with all the momentum I have no idea. that call cost us the game more than any other IMO.

Nice crawdad shuffle !!

In fairness roddie Jones came back across the LOS with 16 seconds to go and got to the huddle with about 13 seconds to go. I'm sure he was thinking about how close he was to a game winner 50 yards down the field. the new rule hurt us there.

All that being said, we were going for it regardless and this offense is not going to drive 60-80 yards in a minute with no TOs which is what they would have had to do if we had saved the TO and not made it on 4th.

the real issue IMO was the time mgmt in the 1st half when we had about a 10% chance of adding points and greater than that of having something bad happen as we turn the ball over one of every four series so far this year.

Hang it up. I know you wanted Chan to stay here for eternity. Your side LOST. Those of us who wanted Chan to get the boot WON.

You will look for ridiculous things to criticize PJ on, but the fact is that PJ is a hundred times the coach Chan ever dreamed of being.

We are much better off now than when Chan was here. I know you hate it. I know it grates on you like sandpaper britches.

But guess what... too bad. :laugher:

Somebody left the door open. Call the pound. Better make that the fumigators.

I chalk that one up to "live by the sword, die by the sword". The same aggressiveness will pay off sometimes, and it will backfire others.
