Why not Spurrier?

Would we really want to go through what USCe goes through every year in hearing our coach rumored for other positions? His name is mentioned for almost every opening and possible opening.

Yes let's just hire BOR, and we will never have to worry about rumors that he might leave.

Did you marry an ugly women so you could sleep at night?

I can't speak for him, but *I* definitely didn't buy a $100,000 ring for a tramp with saggy tits.

:P

beej67,
merely extending the analogy, hehe

Are you comparing me to an ugly woman? I probably would make an ugly woman.

As for Spurrier, Coleman, you are obviously out of touch with the GTAA's ability to hire a coach. At most we are going to spend on a new coach is going to be between 1.5- 1.7 per year. Spurrier would be double that and he isn't interested in coming here.

The rumors flying around that we are after Spurrier are false. We aren't after Spurrier, more than likely we contacted him about Tyrone Nix.

This is the dumbest post I've seen. Why not Spurrier? $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. How's that for an answer. Further, he's not interested in rebuilding another program. He likes to win. He's in his 60's. Some of you people are starting to sound as delusional as Bama fans.

Uhhmm.... GT > USC

GT is a better job. You could win big easier at GT than USC. Don't believe me? Look at the period of time 1900 - 2007.

The only thing SC has over GT is a bigger stadium and more fans. Rightfully, they're the State school.

Man, I forgot Weis was getting 3.3 mil per year. What is that, 1.1 mil per win this year?

Its a great idea. The man has an ego as big as all outdoors. Place him the the Atlanta media market, it a no brainer. Instant infusion of spirit and belief in program by fan base. He truly does hate Georgia. I don't think anyone can win consistently at South Carolina. If he could win at Duke, he would at Tech. The stands would be full, and they wouldn't be dressed in red. Sign him up, give him a 10 year contract, it would be his last job. This man's a winner, a competitor.

Hey dumbo, do you think revenues are inelastic, that we reached the max capacity for BDS under Gailey?

I'm beginning to believe too many of us really were satisfied with 7 wins and 5 loses and winter trips to Boise.

We bring in a world-class coach like Spurrier and we will soon be talking about another BDS expansion.
Who says Spurrier is still world class?

Exactly! The most compelling reason I've heard so far is that it would piss off the UGAy crowd. I ain't particularly interested in a 6-6 coach just to raise the hackles on some ugly mutts. The guy had a massive supply of talent down in the swamp, but he's not done much away from there. Why is that not painfully obvious that his success at FL was the talent, and not the man?

He is 11 and 3 against Ugag and it would piss them off like never before. Do we need anymore reasons? :laugher: :D

Last three seasons:
2005, 7-5
2006, 8-4
2007, 6-6
How is this any better than GC?

Some have said they'd take a 1-11 season as long as the win was against UGAy. Personally, I find that asinine!

Hey 7282 lighten up. I was just trying to piss off some mutts. It bedtime in our world. Have a good night!

You guys are acting like that record was in conference USA. Put our team against that schedule and 6-6 isnt guranteed. Spurrier is a very good coach.
That being said.... Spurrier wants to take a school from no tradition(USC), and build them into a winning program. We haven't been great lately, but we do have tradition. Head ball coach isn't coming to the flats

Ok, Ok. I take that back, before people get pumped or anything.

He is attending the SEC Champ Game. LOL

Maybe we can lure him over?

Here is a story for a local TV station on Spurrier:

In fact, it was the recruiting trail that got Spurrier's name in the headlines here and on national sports websites.

Stories were written that Spurrier was seen on the campus of Duke University. Spurrier says he was in the area to visit a recruit who's already committed to the Gamecocks, and decided to stop by his old coaching home for a visit. Once again, he says he's firmly a part of the Gamecock Nation.

"I've already committed to my role here at South Carolina," he says. "Like I've told so many people, I'm looking forward to coaching Stephen Garcia, and all these freshman receivers and defensive players."

"We'll have a stronger team next year," he says. "Whether or not we'll play really well, that comes down to making plays at the end of the game and we didn't do that a few times this year."

Spurrier may have to win games next year without one of his top assistants. Defensive Coordinator Tyrone Nix is reportedly formally interviewing Friday for the Southern Miss head coaching job. Spurrier says he hopes Nix gets it.

"If he gets offered the Southern Miss job, he should take it. It's a wonderful opportunity."

Besides the fact he hates Georgia, if he were to come here wouldn't he also bring with him the king of SWAGGER!
