We are behind 33-30. 3rd and 15. About 3:46 to play. Sims drops back and is sacked. Play clock resets at exactly 3:40 to go in the game. We have to punt. We snap the ball with exactly 1 second on the play clock. Punt is allowed to roll and play is blown dead with exactly 2:47 to play.

IT TOOK US :53 SECONDS TO PUNT THE BALL TO THEM WHEN WE NEEDED THE BALL BACK WITH AS MUCH TIME AS POSSIBLE.

You would have thought we were leading and killing time.

Punt team should have hurried on the field, got the punt off quickly and downed the ball if it was left to roll saving us 20-30 seconds that we needed at the end of the game.

This is part of why we lose games we should win

Saban has good and bad moments in every game too. That's a good example where we could have been better but I don't think it had a huge impact on the game. Minihan going down had a huge impact on the game. A personal foul by us had a HUGE impact on the game. Two unnecessary holding penalties on us had a huge impact on the game.

If every break had gone in our favor, we would have won.

Touche. But I also said that Miami helped us with the three fumbles (that we created). Miami is a better team than us right now. Their OL and DL is better than us and they had a couple of skill players that we couldn't keep up with. Gibbs/Mason damn near won the game for us.

We had not been particularly lucky on turnovers in the tough games to watch Pitt, UVA and VPI.

Yeah, that punt sequence was pathetic. It’s like our players don’t understand the game. Zero awareness. You see middle school teams with better awareness. Extremely frustrating.

The OC never moved the pocket once that I can remember. Sims is better moving and a duel threat. He's not a pocket passer. The DC ran very few if any stunts or blitz packages. He also keeps the secondary in zone not man coverage so we can blitz. QBs are too comfortable. We have talent but need new coordinators.

You’re missing the point. Things like that happen constantly, week in and week out. Our coaches are obviously not prepared, and that is reflected in our players not being prepared.

@PressManCoverage this is what you seem to be missing as well. Coaching is about much more than calling plays. If the players are constantly making mistakes, that is on the coaches - period. Either practice it until you get it right, or put someone else in that will.

And the thing is, our coaches know this. They harped on “attention to detail” with regard to penalties this offseason, and to their credit, they did get some of the penalties cleaned up. That is evidence that their coaching has a meaningful effect on the players. Problem is, there are so many other issues that our staff is clearly not anticipating. Either that or there is no accountability for players to get it right. Regardless, it’s an obvious problem that doesn’t happen with well-coached teams.

Well Coached Teams just so happen to be super talented Teams, when you are a high talent Player you don't need to "cheat & gamble" to make plays, you can play within whatever system and " let the Game come to you"

Do you honestly think that we Coach our Center to snap the ball low for at least 2 straight seasons, throwing off the timing on damn near every play?

Coaching is no more than 15 to 20% of it, once a Player is taught correctly in practice, IT IS UP TO THE PLAYER TO EXECUTE UNDER GAME PRESSURE!

We just don't have enough Talented Depth to yank poor, undisciplined performers, so they stay in the Game, and they keep effin' up, and you keep on with your rants about, "it's the coaching".

I hate to tell people that they are wrong, no wiggle room, no discussion, hard stop, but that's what most of y'all are, wrong, hard stop.

Stuff similar to this happens for every position on the Field, stuff like this is why so many Players are making a major impact during their 1st yr out of HS

After all the cumulative Reps & instruction that Players get nowadays, once they get to College, they learn to do it the way that Staff wants it done, and either they execute under Game pressure or choke.

But trust me when I say they know what to do and have been taught what to do, executing under Game pressure is another matter
