will collins survive?

I was watching the Ohio vs Ragin Cajuns game. It's amazing how good coordinators just aren't meant to be HC sometimes. The ohio disfunction in every phase was so eerily familiar. What's worse is they didn't have the greatest rebuild in history (tm) to contend with. They just became awful overnight.

Assuming we win only 1 more game (Duke ??), will Collins survive a 2 - 10 season? Really?

Based on What Todd Stansbury said on 680 the game... Coach Collins is safe even after the NIU loss.

“Obviously, we know this is going to be a process, but I felt like there were a lot of positives (in the game),” Stansbury said Wednesday on his weekly appearance on 680 the Fan. “Obviously dominated them in many, many ways but the way that matters most is ultimately the score on the scoreboard at the end of the game. But when you look at the stat sheet at the end of the game, it’s just a head shaker.”

"Obviously, going from the Paul Johnson system to any other system, we knew was going to take time,” Stansbury said. “But I get it. I understand why people are frustrated. I guarantee you there’s nobody more frustrated than Geoff Collins, his staff and the young men that were out there on Saturday.”

So based on the AD's Comments, Coach Geoff Collins will be back next year. The question is will the entire coaching staff come back after a 1-11 0r 2-10 season?

Bottomline is that the tech fans can’t talk about football without mentioning Paul Johnson. They run him down on multiple mssg boards and now the AD denigrates him by reference. I think in 10-15 years Coach Johnsons time at Georgia Tech will be seen as the good old days and what the program “could be.” The main question is how many 3 wins seasons will it take to get a coaching change!

His coordinators would be gone with that record. TDope giving Collins a ridiculous buyout means that Collins will be here next year regardless of the results. TDope needs to be courting the donors to pony up $$$ for some better coordinators if he is trying to implement the Dabo model here.

I still think it is too early to say coordinators will be gone. Normal turnover, perhaps.

AD TStan already has money for the $13M buyout....(He has $50M more than the original $125M AI 2020 goal)

The question becomes does the Donors and others on the "inside" circle demand that part of the $175M be used to buyout ($13M) on Geoff Collins. My guess it will not happen unless they have another coach already lined up (George Godsey, Bill O'Brien, Ken Wisenhunt) FWIW I do not see a scenerio where Tech hires a CPJ disciple as after CPJ dismissal or should I say buyout the Athletics Initiative 2020 exceeded the goal of 125M buy 40%. So fans do not want to watch option football even if it means "winning" Orange Bowls and ACC Titles...

From the article:
As the Athletics Initiative 2020, Georgia Tech athletics three-year, $125-million fundraising initiative, far surpassed its initial goal by raising a total of $175.39 million in gifts and commitments, director of athletics Todd Stansbury announced on Thursday.

I think Collins survives this year and maybe next. I seriously doubt that he will make it for the full 7 years of his contract. Hope I'm wrong.

It won't. I am a top insideher. Money goes to building the program. Collins is good.

Dont know who you are with only 5 posts but, if he has 4 or less wins he will not survive
Collins could not win another game here at Tech and he'd be here at least this season and the next. This year's goal seemed to be "become more competitive in all games but maybe sniff being .500". Next year will be "bowl or bust." He will then be on the hot seat if neither of these happen. Stansbury, like him or not, understands how young the team still is, and he understood from the beginning that it would take 3 - 4 years to truly turn over the roster into a winning team. He's not going anywhere soon guys.

This year's slogan is "WIN21." .500 means a bowl game.

Geoff knows he needed to win more games this year, which is why he took certain short-term transfers. Most people understood that, with the schedule, that would probably top out at 6 wins, maybe 7. Then he came out and fell flat on his face with NIU. and we're back to hoping we can win 4.

I was posting that his coordinators will be gone if GT only wins 1 or 2 games this season. Need to really upgrade these coaches--it would certainly help Collins to have more seasoned coordinators (along w/better game management)

Why is "winning" in quotation marks? I distinctly remember that we DID win the Orange Bowl. See my sig pic. In fact, I paid for 13 tickets for all my family in SoFla to watch us beat Miss. St. Most prestigious bowl that Tech has won in my lifetime.

I give not one f*@k if they run the T formation or the single wing. Just WIN baby. And anyone who would rather watch Tech lose with a pro-style offense, or the "exciting" run-and-gun for that matter, than win with the "boring" wishbone is by definition a LOSER and can kiss 100 percent of my ass.
