will collins survive?

AD TStan already has money for the $13M buyout....(He has $50M more than the original $125M AI 2020 goal)

The question becomes does the Donors and others on the "inside" circle demand that part of the $175M be used to buyout ($13M) on Geoff Collins.
Even if they demanded, there isn't a lot that can be done. Only $37.4MM was donated for Current Operations. The balance is targeted for facilities and endowment - they can't touch it. $12MM was already earmarked. That leaves $24.5MM to allocate. There is a $13.9MM reserve fund deficit, plus its replenishment ($6MM-$8MM?) and COVID-related shortfalls were requiring a $6MM budget reduction, directly related to staffing, that were trying to avoid. That totals a minimum of $26MM, which means that either the reserve fund or the budget doesn't get fully funded. You can't add another $13MM on top of that.

This year's slogan is "WIN21." .500 means a bowl game.

Geoff knows he needed to win more games this year, which is why he took certain short-term transfers. Most people understood that, with the schedule, that would probably top out at 6 wins, maybe 7. Then he came out and fell flat on his face with NIU. and we're back to hoping we can win 4.

Too bad the schedule wasn't flipped with KSU up first. I think we could have sleep-walked to a win and then been ready for NIU. Agree it basically erased a margin of error that was essentially zero to start with. I don't see a way he loses his job, but we gotta perform well in our remaining winnable matchups to avoid a pretty uncomfortable situation heading into next year.

He doesn't look too worried.

Tough decision for sure. I wonder if conversations about reserve fund replenishment is important now or later.

For example lets say Coach Collins has another 3 win season. Is it better to replenish the fund, and lose season ticket holders and game day attendance or would it be better to buyout Collins and get another coach in here to drum up fan excitment and increase ticket sales?

Assuming we win only 1 more game (Duke ??), will Collins survive a 2 - 10 season? Really?
We're in the ACC Coastal. Have you not been watching this random ööööshow the last 10 years? We'll win more than 2 games this season just because we're not the only team in our division that finds ways to shoot ourselves in the foot.

Collins could not win another game here at Tech and he'd be here at least this season and the next. This year's goal seemed to be "become more competitive in all games but maybe sniff being .500". Next year will be "bowl or bust." He will then be on the hot seat if neither of these happen. Stansbury, like him or not, understands how young the team still is, and he understood from the beginning that it would take 3 - 4 years to truly turn over the roster into a winning team. He's not going anywhere soon guys.

I'm pretty uncomfortable right now.
