I recommend listening to the post-game presser if you get a chance. CGC is a salesman (monumental transition unlike anything else, etc.) but it is clear he 100% loves, cares for, and develops his players to the best of his ability.

99% of the time I agree with this approach and wonder why coaches try to fit square pegs into round holes (e.g. Reggie Ball as a drop back QB in a pro style offense)? In our case, though, it means we run mostly option football until we get a couple recruiting classes under our belt. The problem with this is we really want to distance ourselves from the option in the eyes of recruits. Any short term gain might hurt us in the long run of trying to get better athletes here. I suppose we dont have much of a choice since our QBs are pretty inaccurate in the passing game.

Is it any harder to sell a recruit we're transitioning so your going to see a lot of running in 2019 in order to win vs selling an offense that passes for very low yardage (less than running it) with a greater possibility of lesser TDs, multiple INTs, and record sack days for opponents? I get what you're saying, but we can sell this transition without having to pass just for sake of passing. Look at some of our fan base's reaction to our current offense, what if were worse? If the pass was effective for us, we'd be doing it more. Right now we're no where close to being comfortable doing it. I have hunch the ratio of run to pass will be closer to evening out by the end of the year. Maybe not equal, but closer.

Watch Patenaude's interview...he says we planned to throw it more against USF but ended up having to adjust to what was working (the run) because of the early injury to 2 offensive linemen.

I don't think I've seen enough of James Graham yet to come to the conclusion that he's NOT able to pass the ball effectively. I think I've seen enough of Oliver to come to that conclusion, plus the conclusion that he's a playmaking athlete who deserves in-game touches due to his explosive abilities.
LJ appears to have adequate arm strength but his accuracy was off and he has a strange propensity for a tall QB to throw the ball directly into the face of opposing DLs.

TL;DR - start JG this weekend.

And that is good coaching. How many times have coaches here and other places failed to adjust when the "game plan" wasn't working. I am as impatient as most on here to go ahead and rip the bandaid off so the sore will heal faster, but this staff is faced with playing with who we have. Not an enviable task and I couldn't do it.

I do trust that the coaches know more than we do because they see every practice rep. Graham could have issue with pre-snap reads or something but I agree with you.

I would play Graham as much as he could handle and let Oliver play the rest of the game: either running some kind of wildcat or the base offense and see what happens. Maybe we would find out Graham isn't the man but at least we would know.
 
All this QB talk is getting laughable. We have one QB who has actually completed downfield passes that look like a real college football play. In 2 games I remember one pass from Oliver which was the dump off to Howard that went a long way. I don’t remember any of Johnson’s passes. But Graham has actually completed passes down the freaking field. He did the same thing in the spring game. I just don’t understand what’s the hold up. Once we get past Citadel, every team we play will stack the box with 9 and make us look worse than we did last year since we start every play 5 yards deeper. At least the chuck and hope throws from Taquon worked a few times per game last year. Just rip the band aid off and let’s at least look like a new offense. At this point I’d rather throw 3 incompletions and punt than watch our RB’s get mauled behind the line scrimmage every other play. It’s a bad look. The only good thing so far is that both our games have been on the ACCN so no one has really seen us yet.

Graham also threw the worst INT of the fan day scrimmage. Directly to a defender. Perhaps you aren't seeing what Collins is seeing every day in practice

I got the first time you posted it. I should have done what I originally thought on Sunday - ask you to create a "Dumbasses, we lost 2 OL in the first 16 plays" thread so you wouldn't have to keep splattering it across multiple threads. You and the 2 injured OL should get a room.

I’m definitely not seeing what Coach Collins is seeing in practice primarily because I live 200 miles away! I’m a huge fan of Collins and drink my juice daily. I fully understand what we did and why against Clemson. But that South Florida game was horrible on the offensive side. The ACC will destroy us if that is our offense and I’ve posted I thought we could win 7 games this year because the ACC is so mediocre and I didn’t think our offensive system wouldn’t exist. But after a horrible South Florida team stumped any semblance we showed of an offense I have little confidence against even mediocre teams right now. The only QB we have that looks like an actual college QB is Graham. I love Tobias under the old system but we gotta put him in a position to succeed and it ain’t at QB. If I’m a recruit after being told about the rebrand, I’m scratching my head after last Saturday. Hopefully against Citadel we throw it 50 times, score over 30 and the first two games of ineptness are forgotten.

He is atl. It cant be that bad and collins views em as equals essentially. Play him!
