Wins needed next year to quell the blood lust

There’s damn near 6 clear cut wins on the schedule, 3 more are 50-50 & 2 we have a chance.

7 is the bare minimum if we have a slew of injuries, etc. 8 is the expectation, then we have a bowl game which provides him extra margin to get to 8 if he whiffs on one of the gimmes.

So, basically, we’ll know by the end of September his fate.

Starting 1-3 leaves you having to run or nearly run the table. UGA is a L.

Good point, I think 2-2 should be the realistic expectation. A lot can happen between now and then. There's 1 gimme, although we lost to NIU this year so who knows. Clemson could potentially continue to struggle with the loss of Venebles. UCF had a rough year given their recent standards and may not shoot back up to the levels they were at a couple years ago. OM is the toughest game of those 4 I think, as of today, but dominoes could fall this offseason pulling Lane away, and potentially also pulling their OC to OU, which could set them back going into next season. Should be an interesting offseason for sure that could seal the fate of GC by the end of September, as you noted.

Bowl game or bust. A victory over UGAg is always a get out of jail free card to any GT FB HC, even if they only won 1 game that year.

Western Carolina is a win.

We should expect no worse than 4-4 vs UCF+ACC - Clemson.

Clemson + Ole Miss are a crap shoot. They could be good or average.

We shouldn’t lose to uga by more than 4 TD.

I could accept 5 wins if Clemson and Ole Miss turn out to be top teams, we don’t get paddled by uga, and we look to be much improved on offense and defense (Top 50 FEI on O & D). That would should improvement and hope for the future.

Ok, I've thought some more about it and will try to be as rational as possible. For me, personally, 8 wins with 1 being over Clemson or UGA gets me to not want to fire everyone, but I'd still be looking for some changes on the staff and anything less than 7 the following year is immediate axe.

I don't think this is unreasonable, but I also don't see it happening.

Either

8 wins and a bowl or....

4 wins, shorter coaching sleeves and larger and better $$-down signage!

I think the minimum standard has to be a guaranteed non-losing record, so basically 7 regular season wins. After seeing all the coaching carousel shenanigans this year, I don't know if we want to be waiting until mid/late-December bowl game result to begin a coaching (and likely also AD) search. I'm not even certain you keep him for just any 7 wins (and any 5 losses).

Zero. Too broke ass to pay buyout plus anyone good to replace him. Nevertheless I predict he'll overachieve and get another three wins. Consistency is good, right?

Cabrera should have someone putting together search committees for these positions now. It's a matter of when, not if, might as well be ready to pull the trigger.

No thanks. "Our" beat writer would catch wind of it and undermine the entire athletic department just to get the scoop out. The emotional booster article already does a good enough job of that

5 or less we all agree he goes
8 or more we pretty much all agree he stays
6-7 and we argue about it

so that pretty much guarantees 6-7 is the outcome

Agree. No question now that it's when , not if they fire him.
They think they're saving money to wait a year but loss of fans, supporters, ticket sales etal will to some degree offset the savings.
The portal is already looking bad. Hope it doesn't become a floodgate.
here's a decent article from rumbleseat

At the tipoff of the National Championship basketball game against UConn, I told my Clemson friend watching the game with me that this may be the worst thing that has ever happened to Tech basketball. I told him we would probably be stuck with Hewitt forever. He thought I was crazy. Hewitt was a terrible coach, and it was obvious the previous two or three years.

I am terrified that Collins catches lightning in a bottle like Hewitt did in 2004. I don't want him back no matter how many games he might steal next year. He is a terrible coach, and the sooner he is gone, the quicker we can begin the recovery.
