With all the HC transition in SEC: Why no Richt wanted?

Any chance that his name could get thrown into the mix for some of these openings...NOT HERE of course but with all the fruit basket turnover in the SEC or if Bobby Bowden did retire would he go back to FSU....I would love to see his name thrown in there if for no other reason then to send everyone in athens...imagine the jam at the court houses of new parents wanting to change their newborn baby boy's name from Richt...to ummm hold that thought....

Richt has no reason to leave. UGA has become a top notch program under him and is due for a run at the BCS next year w/ the talent they have coming back.

I'm sure also that UGA would beat any offer made to him to keep him.

Why would MR leave a place where the faithful believe he is a god? He will not leave for any other school including FSU with the possible exception of his alma mater, Miami. I don't see him returning to UM as long as DS is president. I don't believe he could take being on the same campus with her.

I've thought about this too. It seems like some of these big schools(Michigan, LSU, etc..) would be throwing cash at him.
I guess he is just content in athens. He seems to fit well there and makes a good bit of money, he will probably get another raise this year.
The only place I would think he would seriously consider going to is FSU making 3+ million.

My guess: he doesn't have to play these games with the media to nickel and dime the administration and fans for payraises, better facilities, etc. I'm sure he gets whatever he wants.

He's the 4th winningest coach in Div1A...and all of the top 10, with the exception of Paul Johnson (at #10) and Richt have National titles...I'm afraid Richt will get his soon enough.

OH don't misunderstand me...I don't think he would leave either/nor has a reason to leave but it would just be FUN to see to the puppy nation get their cage rattled....PLUS I want GT to beat UGA w/ Richt next year w/ our new HC and for the next several years....

Thing is though rambin' --Richt probably doesn't want to leave UGA. Why would he? (I mean, I know a lot of us can count the reasons) but UGA has as much money as any athletic program around so he's pretty much going to get basically anything he wants/needs in Athens --particularly as long as he's winning.

Other AD's are more than likely aware of this so they view him as an 'untouchable' so to speak. I may be wrong but I cannot see FSU as even being a consideration for him --not right now.

Now when DRad makes the right hire and GT starts whipping up on Richt with some vein of consistency --then the natives in red and black might start to get restless.

I still think he would go back to FSU or Miami under the right conditions. He would not have to beat UT, SC, AU, Al, LSU, for the conf championship. Also believe it or not, he could get players in at both schools that he can't get at UGA. Also the talent rich state of Florida could be his and Urban's. $$$$$

He's too afraid of GOL to go back to fla. :D

Isnt Richt trying to get an indoor practice facility built? I think i remember reading something about this a few weeks ago and they were on the verge of getting it approved.

Georgia has a war chest

They are posting profits of $20-30 million a year for their Athletic Department while most schools are struggling to break even.

No one can out spend them to keep the Reverend.
His buyout is around $6-10 million at this point.
And as someone else said, he's worshiped there. Why leave?

Sadly, he's not going anywhere.

Yeah, no one's asking about him because he's got one of the 3 best positions in the country right now.

USC is the only job I'm sure about being better, but we'll say 3 in case one more pops up.

Here's one for you - Notre Dame. Regardless of the record this year, they are the only school with a national fanbase and will never be hurting for $$ when you consider the size of the fanbase, the NBC contract, and the BCS agreement (they don't share revenue with a conference AND they have it set up to receive a share of the BCS payout even when they AREN'T playing in a BCS bowl).

I think he has one of the top 10 jobs, imho he would listed to notre dame, usc, michigan and maybe texas

Is this true? Where did this fact come from? A 3-9 team receiving BCS payoff? The NCAA and BCS are a lot more stupid than I ever imagined. I am having a hard time believing this one. However if true give credit to the leprechauns at ND for negoiating this contract.

If I'm not mistaken, they get a payout every year ($1-2M ?) based on the current BCS structure and they get more for participating in a BCS bowl although not the full payout ($4-5M instead of the $14-15M? ).

If alma mater Miami couldn't get him interested last year, I don't think anyone else would.

FSU might be able to lure him when Bobby dies/retires.

Mark Richt is extremely content in his life where he is right now. More money is not the be-all, end-all to him and Kathryn.

I appreciate all the imput....However, can we all admitt that it would be FUN to watch the dog fans squirm if he became a candidate....Can we all just agree on that?
GO JACKETS!
