Worst coach in the Coastal

It was probably london or golden but Id have to say Larry Fedora... I know its crazy especially after this season.

I'm guessing the coach for the last place team but that is just too easy.

1. Richt, Miami
2. Johnson, GT
3. Cutcliffe, Duke
4. Fedora, UNC
5. Narduzzi, Pitt
6. Fuente, VT
7. Virginia searching for coach.

Narduzzi realistically could be 3 or 4 but we don't really know how good he is yet. I was about to put Cutcliffe at number one but I looked at his numbers and he was mainly successful as a coordinator at Tennessee.

So to answer your question, if you take away all first year coaches, Fedora would be the worst.

If we're going on coaches who will be back next season but have actually been a head coach at a power five school for more than a season, we're left with Johnson, Richt, Fedora, and Cutcliffe. Neither Fedora or Cutcliffe has won a conference championship, so I'd go with one of those losers. I guess Fedora, because Cutcliffe has at least won a bowl game of consequence, albeit 12 years ago.

Cut went 4-1 at bowls at ole miss. 0-3 at duke but just having a 3 there is impressive as hell for Duke. Fedora isn't a good coach. I just really don't think he is

I think Fedora is better than Cut. Or maybe I just want to believe that?

Probably the latter. What Cut has done at Duke is extremely impressive. And is basically the reason Fulmer had so much success. Also 4-1 at bowl games in Ole Miss was pretty solid. Remember, Fedora's job was threatened all the way up until they were 4-1 or so. They got lucky with an EAAAASY schedule after GT öööö the bed against them.

What this year and the coaching changes show is that it's a dumb idea to discuss realigning divisions or fundamentally changing the way the conference championship matchups are determined based on the results of a few years. Sure, FSU and Clemson are in the Atlantic, but top to bottom, the Coastal looks to be the stronger division over the next several years.

Based on overall career as HC:

Johnson
Richt
Cutcliffe
Fedora
Fuente
Narduzzi
Whatever scrub UVA finds

I don't see how anyone could argue for anyone other than PJ as #1. He's won multiple championships at a lower level, he's taken a Navy program that nobody thought could complete to a 9 win team, and he's taken GT to 2 Orange Bowls. He's also the only one of the top 3 not to have been fired, whereas Richt got fired from his only job, and Cutcliffe got fired from 1 of 2.

This is exactly why the ACC divisions suck. If the divisions are going to rise and fall, then make them regional to develop rivalries and fan interest.

Couldn't agree more - regional rivalries are the way to go.

While I don't agree with the pods listed in this FTRS blog, I do love the idea behind moving to pods.

My ideal world would include Clemson, FSU, Miami, and GT in the same pod.

I can give you 6 out of 8 reasons why Richt is a better coach than Johnson.

I know you're a big Johnson fan but Cutcliffe has accomplished more at lowly Puke and has beaten CPJ 2 years in a row now, including CPJ's best GT team. With a few exceptions, we've never been truly awful. With a few exceptions, Puke has always been truly awful. Cutcliffe pulled them out of the shitter and made them relevant.

CPJ is 2-6 vs Richt so am not sure how you rank CPJ ahead of him.

I don't think Johnson's days at GA Southern are relevant in a conversation about P5 HCs. We've got 8 years of P5 football to grade him on now. His record against VT, Miami, mutts, and bowl games is far below 0.500. His best teams don't seem to fare well against these teams and games.
