Would beating a top 10, 10-1 Notre Dame team in South Bend and denying them a playoffs berth redeem this miserable season?

I think it'd help Collins's improvement narrative to get a big, 4th win. But it'd be like our 2021 version of the 2015 win over FSU--and everyone agrees 2015 was an awful season.

I think you answered your own question at the end. 2015 FSU was an awesome game with an unforgettable ending, but I don’t think it changed how we view the season.

Beating ND would make the end of the season more fun, but we’d still be a 4 win team.

That would mean progress that we could easily see, that isn’t the culture we’re building here.

No, it wouldn't. Beating ND and (somehow) U[sic]GA obviously would.

But we already know we have talent and can come in and compete on any given day. Doing it against a top 10 but always overrated ND would certainly be nice and would hopefully silence the "fire Collins right now" crowd, but it wouldn't really make me feel any better about what I've seen this season.

No

I think of course it would change the narrative a little but it is just such an unlikely event that it is hard for a rational mind to conisider that outcome.

FWIW, in a way they are a better matchup for us than a few teams on our schedule.

Yes. In fact, I would accept only getting two wins every single year as long as they were against The Fighting Fisheaters and The Mutts.
Yes if we beat ND & UGA and end up with 5 wins....season saved.... but after watching our team lose the last three weeks against weaker teams.... not sure we can finish the season 2-0

2015 we had a good team decimated by injuries and bad luck, but the team never felt hopeless. This team has seemed hopeless for most of the year; finding ways to secure defeat even when we have lots of luck (eg: Miami)

lol
