Would beating Notre Dame redeem the season?

Miracle against uga setting them up for missing the playoffs the next week would salvage my dignity. But not this season. Missing a bowl game in this division with this roster is just donkey.

And it’s not even like we can even realistically hope for that miracle. Our O/U for total yards is probably 150. Including garbage time.

I think you answered your own question at the end. 2015 FSU was an awesome game with an unforgettable ending, but I don’t think it changed how we view the season.

Beating ND would make the end of the season more fun, but we’d still be a 4 win team.
'14 and '16 being really, really good years certainly makes '15 feel just fine. 2021 is just pain.

A successful season is 8 wins, but because not all wins are the same, here's how I score them -

Win over KSU (or a directional crap school) = .5 wins
Win over a ööööty ACC team = 1 win
Win over Clemson = 2-4 wins (varies, this year its lower)
Win over VPISU = 2 wins
Win over someone like ND = 3 wins
Win over UGA = the number of wins they have going into the game

Beating UGA will always salvage a season for me. Beating the Irish this weekend won't. Keeping them from getting destroyed in the playoff isn't a big deal to me.

Would beating a top 10, 10-1 Notre Dame team in South Bend and denying them a playoffs berth redeem this miserable season?

I think it'd help Collins's improvement narrative to get a big, 4th win. But it'd be like our 2021 version of the 2015 win over FSU--and everyone agrees 2015 was an awful season.
You have nothing to concern yourself with, it aint gonna happen

Beating ND, giving UGA a game and closing out the recruiting class would help create some momentum going into 2022......but that would require a massive turnaround in one week from where we are right now.

It would get us to 3 FBS wins, so we would at least not be going backwards.

It would save my 4-win preseason prediction. Never expected it to be this difficult to get that fourth win.

Idk, putting L number 12 on UGA would be pretty good too.

No

No, it wouldn't. Beating ND and (somehow) U[sic]GA obviously would.

But we already know we have talent and can come in and compete on any given day. Doing it against a top 10 but always overrated ND would certainly be nice and would hopefully silence the "fire Collins right now" crowd, but it wouldn't really make me feel any better about what I've seen this season.

I feel pretty much the same way and I’m not a guy who wants CGC fired…. Yet. I want the guy to succeed. I don’t think that will happen with some of his current staff, and despite some of my complaints about Pnaude earlier in his tenure I have seen clear improvement with game plans and overall play calling.
