Guys who want to give that kind of money want power and to be on the inside. I imagine CPJ kept everyone out of the program. That's the only reason I could see Whisenhunt being so popular with the "money". They can increase their influence on the program and massage their massive egos.

And so if the money wants Whisenhunt, isn't that yet one more reason not to pick him? Cause it always works out so well when boosters run the program.

We might not have a T. Boone Pickens or Phil Knight or Jerry Jones, but there are some very deep Georgia Tech pockets out there. And when the AD gets approached by a consortium of a couple dozen or so, it is influential. Don't kid yourself. Twenty guys pledging $200k each. $4 million gets you a hearing. And game day parking.

This is why a lot of boosters are big money boosters, so they can have influence in the program. Some boosters meddle too much (see Texas or any SEC team) but once they get the right guy in, they keep the money flowing.

Uh, yes, it actually does unless you are in the industry. And I've never seen people from Asia Minor in the industry.
