Numerous countries were shutting down prior to the US. The idea that the covid hysteria is somehow just a US thing is so stupid and wrong.

Fake news. We shut down against China before any country in the world.

There are no solid scientific reasons campuses should not open and football should not be played this fall.

The “problem” as it relates to opening campuses and playing football this fall, is that the Board of Regents and NCAA are covering their butts. The same goes for MLB. They know that any actions they take to try to restore normalcy will be met by scorched earth rhetoric, condemnation and threats of lawsuits from the Left and their unrelenting liberal media outlets, whose only desire is to achieve power in the November elections.

There are no legitimate reasons campuses should not reopen in the fall with modifications to minimize the spread of disease. There are no legitimate reasons there should not be college football this fall. There are no reasons 20% of Americans should be unemployed right now.

Covid is not unprecedented (see link below). What is unprecedented is the lack of love for America, selflessness and lack of civility by our political leaders on both sides of the aisle.

My fear is that if just ONE student athlete/NCAA football player gets COVID in the fall, everyone will “postpone” games until there is no season at all. I think this is the most likely (unfortunate) scenario.

I completely agree that the fear of media and social media shaming and of litigation is what has Presidents and AD’s shaky. The science does not support forcing colleges and universities to do distance learning. But, the fear of angry parents complaining and suing over one ill student is real. For one, we need legislation protecting institutions and individuals against lawsuits related to COVID-19 infection. It should be simple - any place that opens for business in full compliance with federal, state and local orders will not be held liable for any exposure and infection from COVID-19. For one, proving one’s infection comes from any particular place is impossible to prove unless the person has only been exposed to one place and one place only. It is time to give back freedoms and shift responsibility to individuals for making their own choices about where they feel safe.

I do think this fall colleges should do temperature checks and do tests for the virus on any symptomatic students or staff. Those who test positive should be removed from dorms and classes until it is verified they are no longer contagious. Schools should keep a dorm or two open for positive testing students to be quarantined, where they will join classes virtually, get quality medical care and have their food brought to them until they are safe to be back in classrooms, dorms, dining halls and engaged in extra-curricular activities.

I would go watch the University of Beijing play ISIS U, if there was football at BD. My biggest concern would still be sitting next to a Dawg fan, due gas from boiled peanuts and Natty Lites.

The Philippines have had like 11,000 cases to date in a population of 110 million. They've shut everything down and are likely going to stay shut through at least 1 June. They are only allowed outside their house like once a week to go get food. They are total little bitches. The hysteria is skrong globally.

We will soon pass that 116,000 at the rate we are going, also 70 people who attended protest at Wisconsin State Capitol have tested positive.
