More importantly, rituals and traditions are just that. You can't force it. When its forced, its fake and cheap.
Just enjoy Tech football for what it is. Its a great thing, and its unique.
The worst thing to happen is to try to manufacture something that does not naturally happen. Its counterproductive to stage a parade when the fans don't attend. What a horrible impression it must make on players just before they enter the locker room.
If the players know that their fans have a tradition of tailgating to the last minute, they will appreciate that as being part of the Tech experience. If thru natural occurrence the faithful demand a parade, so be it.
Go Jackets! Go Caveman on the Holes!!

1. I agree in part or all with each post in this thread.
2. I see the arguments of Casbah,Cool, and Spelling, most close to my heart.
CAsbah, I loved the vision that came through your post. Would that work at Tech....I certainly would hope so......it sounds great. But I am such a (sorry, Vince Dooley type), I am afraid that too close an encounter with our troops might cause them injury. Someone may trip, some enemy fan may inject him with dawg serum, or such, someone may trip, etc. I know two years ago I reached out to shake one of our monster's hands and missed, leading to my fingernail scratching just above his wrist, for seemed like ten inches long and 3/4 inches deep (I could not enjoy the game for fear that I had caused an injury to one of our Warriors)....In truth, the guy's skin was like cement, but I nevertheless (V.Dooley style fretted the whole game, and am still not to sure but that I caused us to lose the game that day)

3. Cool: I am a lot like in you in some respects. I somehow think you have little tolerance with hypocrisy, and make-believe. I know that ugag did not start anything similar to YJA, until they got jealous of us and our band. They are such mockers. If you have never noticed before, just watch, those ugagers are such ape-ist, mockists, in sooooooo many ways. I have noticed for years how they never originate, many times fail to duplicate, and also specialize as they can only imitate, never create, and for the most part only agitate. Well, what a mission in life!!!!?????
Anyway my humble thoughts, take or leave for what they may or may not be worth: It must start with the students!!!!!! I think Spelling alluded to this. AS long as our students are content to cook/barbecue, play loud music, and throw the frisbe (among other activities) our adult desires for YJA will never reach fruition. My h.o., college/campus life (football # 1) should be surging through the fraternities, sorarities, dormotories,et al, and should enclude the students first of all. (ala: Texas A&M Bondfires, Oldfoggy's reprimending what he thought was a foreign student (but was just a red herring) a couple of years ago. Hey! if the students have no life, youth energy, pride, love for the school, the team.......let us not castigate the oldsters. I think the alums and oldsters do pretty doggone good myself. Some fraternity ought to take this whole thing as a project, maybe several at the time and do something with it. The student body president, and V.P. ought to lead the way. Else, get impeached for dereliction of duties. The student newspaper ought to get on board or go out of print. SOUTH=FOOTBALL!
All adults should play our part.......I have been there each time I have ever been to a game (many) and consider it not a chore, but a priviledge and an opportunity to let our gys know we are behind them.
But, again, imho, it must start within....the campus, the students...boy if they do not care, then they need some motivational education. Some of you will croak, but give them a reward for attending!!!! (Aw, shut up, you egg-heads!!!!)
As said before, I do not disagree with any of the above posts....just have some ideas along these lines myself.
4. If none of this works, I would ask of MsTA (and believe me this is in all sincerety) to use some of her many skills and determination (bordering on obstinancy) to put a spur in the saddle of all us fans; MsTA, you are truly a leader and are not afraid of the devil himself; you have talents that are needed for G.T......MsTA, you know you could do it, I know you are able; only problem is , if you are willing, as well: I will be there, and as many others as possible should also.
Hey, folks, let's # 1 get totally behind our team and encourage them........I personally think that to have to wade through about 2000 people to get to the dressing room would do wonders. Hey, forget about the V., the beer, the "passing of the football, the frisbees, the chatter/fellowship, the steaks/hot dogs/ bbQ/ chili......and sacrifice even more for the team: they deserve it.
My 1.5 cents worth. Now pour on the venom, I can take it. I have the hide of an alligator (still in the egg).!!!
