Day 2!!!
And still NO RESPONSE from my voice mails (2) yesterday.

My last try was an email to Larry New - Associate AD with copy to Coach Gailey. That went out around 5pm yesterday.

I have tried so many times to get something positive going for GT - if I don't get a response to my email - this is the last straw!

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">MsTA.. send an email to catjacket 'bout YJA .. she spends half the day reading this board.. may give her something to do...

Just received a call from GT's new Marketing Manager - John Z. My email was forwarded to him by Larry New.

He was busy all day yesterday and apologized for not getting back to me then. I told him why I called. He is forwarding to me a web address for fans to send in ideas, suggestions, etc. As he said, "a sort of chat room". He's very interested in the fans being a part of game day functions. He offered his direct line and fax number as well to me. I am faxing him this thread today.

He mentioned how timely my email was because they had been discussing fan participation with regard to YJA and the new North Plaza. I explained to him the problem with YJA and fans all around campus tailgating.

I mentioned that fans wanted to attend events at YJA but the proximity for most tailgaters was not condusive to attending. Most tailgaters are so far from this part of campus. I mentioned the Stingers picking up fans and taking them over and bringing them back. I mentioned moving YJA back on to Techwood as well. Getting the students involved - make them the foundation.

He's new and only been in the position a few short weeks. I will post the information he will be sending me for other fans here to contact him with thoughts, suggestions and ideas. He said he realized that more of the functions GT was involved when he took the job was in-game - on the field stuff. He said we need to take things to the fans outside.

I also mentioned Pep Rallies and how we haven't had one since '98 before the FSU game. I said we had talked about having 1-2 a year on this board a few months ago. Maybe before Homecoming and UGA or some other game if UGAG is away. He didn't realize that it had been that long.

I commented on traditions at other schools around the country and being a staple in their game day festivities. I mentioned that GT has never had anything outside of the game itself except for an occasional Pep Rally every 7 years. I tried to focus on the FAN being a part of the success of the program.

YJA is good for the players, coaches, recruits and fans - a coming together of school spirit. He definitely agreed that this should be bigger and better. He's new and he needs to see what he can do. Auburn was his first game in the position.

I will pass along whatever comes my way with regard to communications with him. Will post everything he wants me to communicate. Also, I told him about this message board, The Hive and BuzzOff. I told him they were important vehicles in communicating to fans in the metro and around the state and country.

First step taken...wait for the next!
