What are folks thinking about Paul Johnson these days?

JF77 said some pretty funny stuff in the last 40 posts. I'd say this thread still has potential. Carry on.

Show me where they said that they wouldn't. Yeah, I get the whole new coach love. But given the proximity of GT to where he is from as well as all his connections from his years at Southern, I truly don't think he wants to go anywhere else. Some coaches do intend to do such things if it is within their power. I happen to believe him.

I didn't say he wouldn't like to be at GT for the rest of his career. I only pointed out what he wrote was coach speak that every coach uses when taking a new job and shouldn't be taken as evidence that he wants to stay. The fact that he is from the area and has ties to it is evidence of that.

My opinion of you before this thread, was a solid 7. Now I'm in a re-evaluation period.

Here's a lemma:

For each statement s made by any coach c, there exists at least one internet message board poster p such that p interprets s by c as coachspeak.

Further, I postulate that this rule holds true for all s made by any coach c at any time t irrespective of whether c was a coach at t, as long as for the present time t0 the statement 'c is a coach at t0' is true.

It is even possible that this rule holds true for all s made by any coach c at any time t if there exists a time t1 such that c was a coach at t1, even if for the present time t0 the statement 'c is a coach at t0' is false.

Extra credit: solve for the jacobian matrix of c.

That's what every coach says when taking a new job. Do you think O'Leary said that he would only leave if Notre Dame came calling? Or Bill Lewis said "I intend to screw up the football program." Or Bobby Ross said "I will stay until the NFL hires me."
The difference is Ross was looking for someplace to land and we luckily had an opening. He was in a awkward situation due to the timing of leaving MD and had only hooked on as an assistant at Buffalo. O'Leary was just looking for someplace. Nobody else was after him. Only PJ was in a position to choose where he went and he chose us.

who else was knocking down his doors?

Further evidence that his ties to the area make him much more likely to stay. All I was saying is that the line quoted is what every coach says when he is hired. He probably said something similar at Georgia Southern, but left for bigger challenges. Believe it or not, I like Johnson, but I'm realistic. The truth is that not many are going to try to lure him away because the football factories and NFL aren't that interested in going to the option. We were his best fit of school with football tradition and a willingness to try to do it differently as well as allowed him to use many of his existing relationships.

sadly we agree on something.

51-7.

Don't kill the article poster brosephus....just thought this thread died down a little and needed the fire to be stoked...

Taylor King wrote it, not the Kang. King also thinks GT will be 6-6 this year including getting blown out (35-10) by VT, blowing out (35-7) Miami, losing by 4 TD's to Clemson, and only managing 7 points at home against BYU.

Taylor King is a "Super Troll". Also, I'm pretty sure Mark Richt has a restraining order against him after he stole that lock of hair.
