Official 2013 Recruiting Thread.

I worry that recruiting Corn Elder might make Travis Custis feel like he's not "the guy", and want to go somewhere else where he would be feature back. Sounds like though that Elder is more of an AB and Custis a definite BB. In an offense where we run 2-3x as much as a typical team, that doesn't mean split carries, that means the same number of carries as on a pro-style team.

Huge win for our recruiting if we can keep Custis. He's one of of our best looking recruits on tape of the past several years, and to me would probably be our next 1000-yard back.

The B-back in this class is Douglas. Custis and Wilson are slated to be A-backs.

Really? I'm skeptical on Custis slated for AB. 183cm 93kg is right around as big as some of our current BBs. If true that he's slated for AB, I'd doubt AB vs. BB is actually decided yet.

And Douglas is on ********....

I could be wrong and don't want to libel anyone, but it looks like he has a superb high school S&C program.

Douglas will play either linebacker or Bback. Whichever gets him on the field fastest. I think the plan now though is linebacker but with the switch to 4-3 who knows.

We have

Douglas at 6'/210 Strong on power / Full Back in High School

Wilson at 6'/211 Strong on power and down hill running / weak break away speed

Curtis at 5'11/198 Strong on power and down hill running / weak break away speed

Elder at 5'11/170 Strong elusiveness and breakaway speed / weak on power

Looks like 3 B backs and one A back from the comments on abilities... But who knows for sure?

Actually, I think PJ realizes his team needs to get bigger. You are seeing that change in his recruiting of the last 2-3 OL classes, and I think its the same with AB. If you look at the guys coming in, Deon Hill, etc they are getting rangier. Not huge, but rangier. They look more like Slot WR, than the AB of Navy and old GT. No more xenons, peeples, wrights, etc. These guys are all about 6 ft and 200lbs and if they aren't, they have a frame they will be once they get on our program.

This to me helps the passing game and ability to physically block. In the passing game your window is bigger and taking on a 225 LB for a 205 LB AB is a little easier.

Haven't been keeping up, but how are we looking for Jaylen Miller and Trey Johnson? I'm guessing not very good?

Trey Johnson was never really seriously in the mix in the first place
