Jeremi Hall Visiting USF

Tri-Cities coach says GT did Hall wrong:

Here’s Jeremi Hall’s coach:
“Tech is solid with their decision; Jeremi is OK, he has other options,” Miller said.
“As far as my position, I don’t agree with them. I understand that they have a program to run, and how they run it is their choice.

“But I advocate for my kid. Jeremi has been committed to them since May, so with two weeks left, he has to try to choose again. But that is OK. I think it’s a blessing in disguise for the kid.

“The crazy part, though, is that some coaches think they have all the power … to pull a kid’s offer just because he visits another school. I mean, did you really, really want that kid from the (start)? Is this rule the same for all of your commits? Or just the ones who you really, really didn’t want?

“Furthermore, is it even an ethical thing to do? That’s one of the things I feel the NCAA should look at. Not only that. I wonder if Tech has ever had a recruit on campus that was verbally committed to someone else?

“I made it a point for them to know (that) I don’t like how they handled my kid. I advise all parents to not let these schools hold kids hostage with a verbal offer. Coaches shop kids, jobs … every year. Let these kids be sure. It’s only their future.”

Kelly Quinlan (GT publisher on Rivals) then says that GT rescinded the offer after Hall made a visit to USF w/o telling the coaches beforehand.
Quinlan also tweeted on Wednesday, "Saw Tri-Cities coach plenty of times at (Georgia Tech) and he knows and Jeremi knew academic standards for his kids."
A source from Georgia Tech said there were some concerns over Hall's academic progress.

When Hall's coach was asked if Hall was on pace to qualify at Georgia Tech, he texted, "yes."

I read the coach defending this morning and all I could think about was how much my dad or coach would kick my butt if I were to enter into an agreement, know the consequences, and then break that commitment. Society enables people to do the wrong thing.

not to turn this into a "pulling the scholly if you make a visit" thread but by now if a kid visits another school without telling the Tech coaches after accepting an offer i think they must be kinda dumb if they dont realize that they could get their scholly pulled since it has happened a few times before

maybe the guy just wasnt smart enough to figure that out, in which case good luck to him somewhere else. maybe the guy tried to sneak it past the coaches, in which case i say good luck to him somewhere else. his coach is kinda stupid for not bringing up the fact that the kid didnt talk to the Tech staff about it.

i hope he has fun with George at UCF

The word I'm gathering from different posters is that the kid's scholly wasn't pulled because he was visiting USF. It was pulled because his grades aren't good so he scheduled a visit to USF. The coach then comes out telling the world in the AJC that it was pulled because of the visit to USF, basically lying.

either way, bye bye Jeremi and good luck to you! work hard, get your body tough and you have a chance at the next level if you get after it

Ah I see coach, so he was sooooooooo committed that he decided to up and visit USF out of the blue.
Gotcha.

Maybe he just wanted to experience all that wonderful Tampa has to offer?

Whatever. Good luck to Jeremi. Coach? STFU

The NCAA rules allow the player and HS coach to say pretty much anything they want, and the coach is trying to help the kid. But he's doing that by throwing Tech under the bus, because he knows the NCAA doesn't let Tech respond in an official manner. The kid and the coach knew that his scholarship was dependent on academic standards, and he didn't get it done. Now they're making excuses.

As far as I can tell, we've put together a few pages based totally on hearsay and innuendo.

There are a few DNQ quotes from Kelly Quinlan and others (who seem to indicate the offer was gone before he arranged to visit other schools), some that indicate we were trying to get an exception, some that he wouldn't be able to get an exception, some that Jeremi Hall was NCAA qualified, some that he isn't, etc. We know his coach is disappointed, and that we went through the same mystery experience with a recruit last year (with a frustrated high school coach).

I'm sure I don't know what's going on here. I doubt it's getting any clearer.

Speculate away, boys! WTH.

Why would a business major need to know about the laws of thermodynamics? Even a Taylor series. They only have to take survey of calculus and I doubt they cover Taylor series.

Its an example people. I know that a lot take business majors, even some take Electrical Engineering and are serious about there studies but if you were to ask those non serious business majors what economies of scale are or an industrial engineer who has to take Intro to Calc I or II and Physics 8 principles of those classes they wouldn't have a clue.

Whatever the major I am not commenting on fact but feeling that the student part of Student/Athlete is dwindling fast and that Tech is no different than any other school, and in today's athletics it is almost non-existent and Tech is no different than anywhere else.

Do you mean different like having the highest average SAT score for football players in the country?
