I hate Bark Madley

I never said the article was inaccurate. I am just stating I can stand the guy. Does no good to kick the home team while its down. You would think he was writing for the local athens paper.

you hate him because it's disparaging to all the players on the current roster.

you hate him because he's a widely read sports writer FROM ATLANTA!!!

you hate him because all the positive press thrown our way is some kind of back-handed coddling style, "Good job little brother!" style piece.

Is our current roster really that much worse than UGA's players right now? Maybe this past year yes we were a lot worse than the second best team in the country and really really really close to being the best team in the country. So were a lot of teams, some of which HAVE beaten Georgia recently. Namely Boise State.

in all fairness, 3 of the last 5 games have been crapshoots. it's not like uga has been dominating us every time. only one of those games got ugly.

Meh, he isn't wrong. But his smug ass can

clearly your favorite meme of the day

Wrong. 2011 and 2012 GT didn't even compete. 2011 was just as awful as 2012 we just happened to score earlier in 2011. But if you watched UGA pretty much did the same thing to us. Scoring at will and our defense couldn't stop them.

Why hate Madley. Unless, of course, you realize just how accurate that article is.

The article is demeaning however and unnecessarily so. There is no counter in the article that half of what Tech recruits will automatically get a lower score in his beloved recruiting rankings. There is no counter in the article that big schools with big alumni base get an automatic increase in ratings because of readership. There is no counter in the article that we recruit small classes and keep our players while other programs count the same recruit twice (from h.s. and from jc).

That's where he is a jerk. He is a local paperwriter trashing his local team for the betterment of the majority of his readers. Where's the same article about UGA basketball right now?

Yeah:

2008: Close victory
2009: Close loss
2010: Close loss
2011: Never in the game
2012: Never in the game

FOUND IT (from last year)!

Guess what his answer to the question is in the title of the article?

for reference here's the play-by-play of the second half of the game in question:http://espn.go.com/ncb/playbyplay?gameId=320240061&period=2

Where is he wrong?

"Aaron Murray will be gone by 2014, but that game will be in Athens."

Last time I checked, 3 of our last 4 victories were in Athens.

Where in here is he wrong?
The only place he is potentially wrong is how long before we win again, teams are different, things happen. Aaron Murray is not above injury.

I'm glad he's writing about it. It's better than sweeping it under the rug and pretending that everything is hunky dory.

I don't think we'll beat UGA next year either. In fact, if we are in the ACCCG I hope we don't play our starters. I think even playing UGA is a waste of time, considering how differently the school's football programs are allowed to operate.

It's not his opinion, it's the tone and how he presents his thoughts that are galling to me.

It wouldn't bother me if it didn't say when will the jackets beat the dawgs again "if ever"

Well, just join the "mindrite" ST brigade and you can fool yourself into thinking that it will be this year right up until the gameday reality sets in.

:bowrofl:

As for the couple of sidewalk fans who actually posted, why are you a fan? Is it a family connection?

I'm a GT fan by default. My dad went to GT so I grew up going to most home games and a few games in Athens when GT was the visiting team. My dad died a few years ago, but I'm glad I spent a lot of time with him and his former classmates on Saturdays. GT wasn't that good in the 70's and 80's but at least they played real competition most Saturdays.

I went to Georgia Southern (when CPJ was the OC under Erk). If they were a BCS program with more coverage, TV time, and if I lived closer so I could go to games more often I'd follow them instead of GT.

The other factor is that I can't stand UGA, which makes GT the logical choice. I'm a fan of whoever is playing UGA.

In the last two years I've considered making a switch, as GT isn't headed in the right direction to compete on a national level. It's not much fun to spend lots of time and money (and emotional investment) on a program that doesn't match my expectations.

Personally wouldn't mind you leaving the fan base. Any person that considers switching from his team due to bad finishes is a ööööö. Also I wouldn't have to look at your signature. (worst night of my life).

Don't let the door hit you where the good lord split you.
