2014 schedule

Miami minus Stephen Morris

Clemson sans Tahj Boyd

Va Tech minus Logan Thomas, whom we turn into a Davey O'Brien Award candidate.

Georgia Southern without Jerick McKinnon.

I'm hoping 8-4. I want 11-1, with one being a how did that happen loss (I don't want the loss to happen but you just know it's going to). And the last of the 11 coming the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

God, what a snoozer of a schedule. If we can't win go 8-4 with that slate of Cupcakes Paul should be fired.

2015 schedule looks a lot better at least.

So next year's schedule is essentially this year's except we get NCSU instead of Syracuse (a wash) and Tulane instead of BYU (downgrade). And we get a relatively more exciting non-conference game in GSU instead of MTSU.

Is that really enough to say that next year's is full of cupcakes and a "snoozer"? Or was this year's schedule full of cupcakes, too?

7-5 or 8-4 same losses as usual

And at the end of next season we'll have 5 threads titled "I REALLY think 2015 is our year!!!" These threads will talk about how we'll beat VT or Miami or UGAG or Clemson.

Syracuse isn't good, but NCSU is a dumpster fire. Tulane sucks compared to BYU. Hell, Syrcause smoked both Tulane and NCS this year.

We had a number of cupcakes on the schedule this year, more next year.

7-5 with a possible loss to GA Southern; losses to the other big 4.

if we do lose to GA Southern than 6-6

this team will have MAJOR problems on the OL and DL

Remember, the OL will have 3 starters gone (4 if you include the fact bailey is a wuss), one of which is a center. That is big..considering the guys behind them looked like dog crap this year and we still have sewak. And there were a bunch of OL backups that got NO PT this year due to injury. Another depth setback

The DL loses 3. This is big...and the fact we only played shawn green in backup vs UGA on the DL shows you HOW BAD the backups really are. Even the young guys are too young...you need years at DL to be good. No Depth at all.

Paul has done a horrible job recruiting the lines 3 and 4 years ago. And we will pay the price next year.

I do believe last years class and this years class has good line prospects...just too young...

Candidly, I see a really struggling year next year.

I can't think of one team that loses 3-4 OL and 3 DL in one year and IMPROVES the next year outside what? Bama? Maybe LSU but I doubt it. It never happens at tech. Ever

VT loses a lot of talent (in addition to Logan Thomas)

Same with Clemson and uga.

Not sure about Miami.

DL is a huge problem, I agree. I don't understand the lack of recruiting for the DL positions, then and now. DL recruiting numbers way too low. We need some guys to get a lot better in the offseason or our defense is going to be the worst it's been under PJ. Who on our defense is going to pressure QBs?

Gotsis looks like he's got some get up and go in him. Sir Francis?

:dunno:

I think the lack of DL guys is mostly due to the fact that for 3 years we had Al Groh as the DC. And he was running a 3-4 which needs less lineman.

Kallon was buried deep on the depth chart this year, so i doubt he is a front line guy next season. Maybe Jabari plays with a hand on the ground next year or Anthony Williams finally emerges as a rush end.

He made his way to 2nd string late season on depth charts released, but I didn't see him that much out there in games.

Tech is not losing to Southern. Southern is losing its best player and its D was abysmal for the most part this year. The Ellison kid is going to be good at QB but McKinnon was the heart and soul of that team. He made a difference. And he's played his last game. Swope is a helluva B-back but I don't know if he'll be able to play again.

2015 is a brutal schedule. Replace GaSo with Notre Dame and NCSU with FSU.

2015 will be triple brutal when we fire CPJ next year.

We'll be fine. Quit being a bunch of pussies. A lot of our opponents are losing talent as well and I think we will be better off than them at replacing it.

Offense:
-Vad has been getting better as the year has progressed. He looked pretty good against uga except for one awful mistake. JT got good experience. QB competition in spring.
-We will be loaded at the a and b back positions as usual and there's talent there.
-We should have a serviceable offensive line next season. I mean could it get any worse. We saw guys on the second team get some experience and there are some guys that we redshirted that the coaches have been high on.
-Our wideouts may be our most underestimated weapon next season. We get Autry back(hopefully he doesn't get injured again), Dre and Waller. That doesn't even include the backups that got some experience and some talented redshirts.

Defense:
-Depth may be an issue again. Gotsis, Kallon and Kitchen, who was great at times, are the only guys that seem to be reliable. Replacing Sneezy's and Cummings' playmaking is going to be difficult. Their backups got some experience, so let's hope they step up. Again, the main issue will probably be depth, not talent.
-The linebackers will hopefully save our butts. JHD, Nealy, and PJ are there. Harrell will be back along with some second team guys that got some experience.
-DB's: Losing Pod sucks, but we get IJ and Golden back along with the other guys that got alot of experience(taking the positives from season ending injuries). DJ looked good against uga. I think Roof will have plenty of pieces to work with to make a solid secondary.

Special Teams:
-Butker did well for a freshmen kicker. Hopefully, Rodwell will be a capable replacement for Poole.
-Did I mention Golden will be back?

Anyway, you guys will inevitably find something to bitch about.

The schedule really sets up well if we have a run at a big season in us. It will be a great opportunity to see what the program under CPJ can look like for us if we commit to go long term with him at the helm.

I think 6 wins or less and he could actually be gone after next year. I believe 8 wins or more and he will leave only if he chooses to for another job, even if the 4 losses are to UGA, Clemson, VPI, and the U. I think 7-5 with that schedule will be the one record that will make the AD's decision hard and will be sure to divide the fan base.
