#19: Kenderius Whitehead

We are not adapting anything regarding JUCO's. The only reason he can come in from JUCO is because he was never a grades problem and he was only in JUCO one year instead of 2.

If he had been in JUCO two years he would have had too many hours to make up upong coming to GT because GT does not accept very many of the classes students take at JUCO's.

There is a reason we have not signed one in 10 years.....most would have to sit out a year and take classes to even be eligible under NCAA APR (effective 2003)....and most JUCO's do not want to do that.

Because Kenderius had a year at NCState and only 2 semesters at GMC it will work out. If he had stayed there 2 years it would not have happened most likely.

Your agrument is invalid because we just picked up a juco transfer. Picking up a juco transfer is an adaptation to current recruiting methods. All the argument does is outline the parameters in which we are able to pick up juco transfers, and I don't particularly think anyone that understands GT academics is seriously thinking juco is a new artery to supply the team with talented life blood.

How's that bet working out for you

Was Durant Brooks really 10 years ago? Dang…

hard to believe huh? actually closer to 9 years as he transferred in 2005 following the 2004-05 season.

He graduated Tattnall Academy in 2003 (no grades issues known).

He had to sit out at GT in 2005 and played out Scout team and got a year of classes under his belt while redshirting. He then played the 2006 and 2007 seasons.

So don't get me wrong, I know it's great that this guy is coming in having already seen some college ball (not sure what kind of PT he got at NC State, but he at least saw the day to day), and I know it's good to get DL depth, but is there a reason we should be *really* excited? Seems like some of you are just glad to get a JUCO because that's the cool thing to do. If he hadn't been in JUCO, I feel like some of you would be grumbling about "just another 3 star." Is he actually different?

The more time goes on, the more sets of brass balls it looks like you have. Current models show 72 pairs of brass balls.

Doesn't take balls to see we don't have offensive nfl talent in years

From what I recall he was a pretty highly touted recruit coming out of HS, no? Also, I don't even know how they rank JUCO players, but I imagine its a whole lot less accurate than players coming out of HS.

He was a "high 3-star" on Rivals if that means anything to you. Rated as a 5.7....4 stars begin at 5.8.

That is good to know. I think our recruiting has suffered not only because of the lack of 4 star recruits, but the small number of "high" 3 star guys we have been able to attract in the past 3-4 years...

The reason to get excited is that, although our incoming freshmen may have better long term potential (Freeman, Merriweather, Simmons)....Whitehead is 2 years ahead of them physically and can battle with Stargel for the WDE starting spot day one. This was Attaochu's spot....so it is a big one to fill.

yeah, I expect him to be a beast when he steps on campus, as opposed to incoming freshman who need a year or more of conditioning.

Because we can really use a RS sophomore at DE. We will see if he is a difference maker at the D1 level like he was on the lower level.

He was highly touted out of HS and had offers from UGA, Clemson, Miami, Mich St, Notre Dame, Nebraska, USCe, and VT. http://rivals.yahoo.com/footballrecruiting/football/recruiting/player-Kenderius-Whitehead-115322. This article (by Carvell so grain of salt and all that) at the time said he was thought by some to be the best pass rusher in the state that year.

This is a huge get.

Thanks for the info!! That is probably the most impressive offer sheet since some of the guys in the 2007 class.

great now I'm worried that he'll declare for the draft after the 2014 season.

Did anybody else get laid off today since the value of your degree has now been diminished?

On a serious note, big get CPJ. Kid can probably come right in and start which is both encouraging and alarming at the same time. :ughred:
