Stay Classy dwags

I was in Athens for the Auburn game, wearing Auburn colors, after the tech game ended of course. We had some over the line trash talking while waiting in line to get some subway from a group of girls, which was mainly laughed off. Had trash thrown at us in one bar. Dealt with a few ass holes in the same bar, almost leading into a fight, and witnessed quite a few other UGAg fans just being plain ass holes throughout the night.

The night wasn't bad for our group, but it probably helped that it was a decent sized group of mixed fans.

I'll see how that changes in a couple of weeks though.

I've had good experiences in Athens actually. Worst experiences I've had with Uga fans have been visitors to BDS.

There are also probably some Uga fans who post about this one a hole GT fan they sat next to one time... Me.

I was in Athens with a group of UGAg and Aubie fans, wearing my Tech gear, and had a great time with no issues. I got some friendly ribbing, congrats on the win over Clumpson, and some good discussions about how big COFH will be with both teams ranked. Reddit OP sounds like bullshit.

I believe the story. Your experience in Athens is controlled by where your seats are and how you get back to your car. If you sit near alumni and walk near alumni tailgates to leave, you'll generally be ok. There are areas of that stadium though that must be block seating for trailer parks and Honey Boo Boo's relatives. Sit there or wander through their tailgate on the way back and you'd better be ready.

The reddit OP starts with his people getting harassed in a bar on Friday night. I'm calling bullshit.

I have never been to a game in Athens, but I am sort of considering it this year (alone). I know I will never take my boys to a night game at Bobby Dodd when the mutts are in town. I did that 3 or 4 years ago (think it was the year we went to the Peach bowl? Anyway, giving the mutts a whole day to tailgate made it worse. My friend and I had our boys (both 5 or 6 at the time) and we had to put them on our shoulders for fear of them getting crushed while going to our gate. There was no consideration for our kids. I had to aggressively elbow many to keep some space. Not a pleasant situation. I wonder if this is more an issue for night games for the mutts?

Are you saying that drunk people in bars don't harass people?

Same principle applies to bars. Go in the right bar and probably end up getting laid by a co-ed. Go in the wrong bar and end up fighting Gunner from Blackshear.

I was in about six different bars on Saturday night. The bars were full of UGAg fans and Aubie fans - most everybody was having a great time together. The ones who weren't were so drunk they couldn't stand up.

I just stopped bothering with Athens after the 51-7 debacle. With georgie fans, I've had folks yell in my face, bark in my face, threaten me. That doesn't really bother me. That's just them posturing. Most just want to seem tough for whatever reason. I've seen them pick the smallest person in my group and go talk öööö to them, which congratulations!

It's just not worth the effort to deal with Athens on Gameday for the same reason it's not worth discussing football with a sidewalk georgie fan. It's all good fun before the games/when it starts, when the booze is flowing, but afterwards, it turns into some circle of hell that draws out the worst in people and ends up looking like some sort of post-apocalyptic wasteland all said and done.

Well said...

I have a noticable limp after a work injury, and a Mutt fan, after the game in 2012, kicked me as hard as he could in that leg while a large group laughed. I've had worse things done to me by Mutt fans, but this one stands out.

I've been to Athens more times than I can count on the weekends and never had a situation like this, even if I wore GT stuff. I've been there on gameday, too, and, outside of a lot more drunk than I am used to seeing at BDS, things were pretty much what you would expect at a football game.

This. Clemson & Auburn = best by a large margin. Also remember how classy Nebraska's fans were in Orlando.

Same for me. Enjoyed visiting both places with my wife. Wouldn't ever think of taking her to the cesspool because I'd end up in jail from having to kick someone's ass.

I had an Old English 40oz bottle thrown at me from a moving truck off 14th street in 2005.
