CFP Rankings Thread

Well I was talking about using it against the committee, but now that you mention it, yeah. Screw the Big Texas.

KSU and TCU (assuming they win) would be deemed co-champions so the committee would treat them as such.

We don't know if the committee will treat a Big 12 co-champion the same as an ACC/PAC-12/SEC/Big Ten champion.

The fact that we're currently two spots ahead of Wisconsin bodes well for us. I can't see a Wisconsin team who's currently looked at with less esteem than 3-loss Ole Miss jumping us and Kansas State with a win over an Ohio State team playing with its preseason 3rd string QB.
That is logicql but Tbe Experts on ESPNU put Wisconsin in if they win qnd all other favorites are beaten. I think the fact that GT and Mizzou were the only teams not mentioned in any scenario of upsets tells us we arent on the radar. The assumption is the bias of the committee would be similar to "The Experts" and they are clearly unencumbered by logic in their decisions.

The fact that FSU has dropped to 4th by the committee is all we need to know. If we beat them, we will not be going to the playoff.

Are you suggesting that FSU dropped to 4th in a direct effort to keep us out? That's a little paranoid.

No that is not what I am saying. I am saying that they view the ACC as weak relative to the other conferences, and if an 11 beats a 4, they will not magically become a 4.

It would be enlightening if this ööööing CFP committee would publish the criteria by which they are basing their ranking decisions on. This bullshit about the eye test does not pass mustard. Like most everything, it leaves you with the conclusion that they are in the back room cutting deals to take care of certain constituents. That ass hat Swofford needs to challenge why they are demeaning the value of ACC football to the extent they are. The facts just don't support that for the 2014 season.

Go Jackets!

I honestly don't see it happening unless we destroy FSU in a way that suggests something other than "FSU's terrible first-half play finally caught up with them" or "Oh, that tricky tricky option offense strikes again!"
We have to, unfortunately, control the game. AND have all those other teams lose. And we need Wisconsin to barely beat a crippled OSU team with no "game control"

I still struggle to see how people could possibly view the Big 10 as better than the ACC. What do we know...

- VT (4-4) beat OSU (8-0) by 14 on the road by 14.
- Miami (3-5) lost to Nebraska (5-3) on the road by 10.
- Syracuse (1-7) lost to Maryland (4-4) at home by 14.
- Maryland went 4-4 in the Big 10 after going 6-18 the last 3 years in the ACC.
- ACC has 4 ranked teams, the Big 10 has 3.

Hopefully we continue last year's BCS momentum and start changing this dumb perception.

There are more sports writers in the Big 10's population centers than there are in the ACC's population centers that care about college football. Period.

So the ACC went 1-2 against the b1g with the only win against a team that had just lost their starting QB a week before? Yes, we are clearly better.

Or, the B1G went 1-2 against the ACC when every game should've been a complete mismatch, based on conference standings. Also, their conference champion that has been undefeated for 3 straight years got their ass beat by a team that is barely bowl eligible in the ACC.

Their "new QB" that you speak of was a Heisman candidate. Meanwhile, VT's scrub QB has been HORRIBLE in the ACC but threw all over Ohio State in that game. I remember being worried about their offense at the time because of how good OSU made him look.

Not sure if anyone's mentioned it yet but Todd Mcshay(sp) just made a really good point on ESPN......he stated that FSU moved down to #4 and moved TCU up to #3 to make it harder for Baylor to jump them in the final rankings and be able to logically void the head to head argument. He mentioned that the rankings for the other three teams really don't matter because the win and you're in, lose and you're out philosophy applies to each of them.

Will be interesting to see what they do if Bama wins, Oregon wins, and TCU wins. Then FSU and Ohio State lose and Baylor wins. Could Baylor get the #4 spot? Would be a joke to have 2 Big 12 teams in a playoff when they don't have a championship game. Or would they give it to Wisconsin? We would be as deserving as Wisconsin for the #4 spot in that scenario. What a joke this committee is.

Iowa also beat Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh.

BUT:

Minnesota lost to TCU
Rutgers beat Wazzou
Northwestern lost to Cal
Michigan State lost to Oregon
Michigan lost to Utah
Wisconsin lost to LSU
Michigan lost to ND
Penn State beat UCF
Nothwestern lost to N. Ill
Purdue lost to C. Mich
Maryland lost to West VA
Indiana lost to Bowling Green
Iowa lost to Iowa State
Illinois lost to Washington
Purdue lost to ND

And Braxton Miller was not lost during the Navy game contrary to popular opinion apparently.

That really just depends on how much value that the committee puts on winning your conference. Baylor and TCU do have a better regular season resume than GT, but does losing their conference disqualify them? In my opinion, yes, as long as we have a 4 team playoff. We'll see how the committee feels.
