He's back!

Chan is a bright offensive mind but is way too conservative. His style belongs in the NFL where you kick FGs from the 1-foot line (ahem, Mike McCarthy!).

Chan thought the Packer's NFC Championship performance was a thing of beauty.

It does make me wonder if Chan is too nice a guy to win in the NFL, considering the highest winning coach is an absolute cheat.

If you gave Chan Gailey $100, he'd go bury it in a mayonnaise jar in his backyard and try not to worry about it. If you gave Paul Johnson $100, he'd go to Vegas and get kicked out of every casino for card counting, but not before cleaning them out for $100,000 each at the blackjack table.

so true, he once said his coaching philosphy was to get up by 7 points and hold the other team.

Compare that to CPJ's quote after the Orange Bowl:

"We talked about it at halftime — if we scored every time in the second half, we couldn't lose, because we were ahead," Johnson said.

you might choose to notice that the franchises he worked for represent the elite of ownerships in the NFL (except the Jets)

you could give the man his due, that he is a pretty good NFL system guy; accept the fact that college wasnt his cup of tea, and be done with it

or you can continue to pile up on a dead horse like ööööty tacklers that just jump on guys that are already down to make themselves look as if they had anything to contribute

chan is better than all of you on this board, otherwise get a ööööing job in coaching and stfu, cuz you wont have any time to be posting negative crap about ex-coaches

chan has helped a bunch of GaTech players get into the pros, get looks from the pros, and more. if you note his ex-players pretty much all defend him and talk positively about him

its mostly the mediocre fans who still wish to put the guy down.

His main problem is the same one that got Muschamp and a bunch of others: pro style offense without a pro style QB.

Being mediocre would be a step up for Chan Gailey.

Unless your definition of mediocre is "not a total failure".

like going to ACC Championships and Super Bowls? yeah, total failure

you are a dumbass

Don't guess a guy can have an opinion if it doesn't agree with your's.

he can have an opinion all he wants. but his comments contradict FACTS, not opinions

FACT: Chan won the ACC Coastal and went to the ACC CG
FACT: Chan went to three Super Bowls as part of the Broncos staff, then another one as OC of the Steelers.
FACT: after the Cowboys went 6-10 with Switzer, they won the NFC East and went 10-6 under Gailey. he took them to to playoffs again in '99 even though they lost Irvin to a spinal injury. the Cowboys then fired him. they did not win a playoff game until 2009, even with Bill Parcells
FACT: the Bills much improved from bottom-dweller to near-playoff team under Gailey.

as i said before, he really does well in certain roles - just like how he managed our 'personnel' crisis of losing a bunch of players and scholarships pretty well. He is great at taking teams that are about to go down the drain and prop them up to be reasonably decent.

i have no problem with anyone saying that his time at GaTech was a mixed result, but to say that he is a "total failure" is a comment only an uninformed DUMBASS would make. you know, based on FACTS

It is a rare day that I align myself with Czar but he speaks the truth here. Folks have to remember that Chan was working under probationgate. Look at many programs out there, even the biggest of boys. They all drift backwards during and after these events. Chan didn't drift backwards and made us competitive, with less players, harder standards, everyone watching from the Hill, etc. I thought it was time to go when he did but I do not look down on him as our coach or as an individual. We have had much worse moments with other coaches. Chan's was about average for Tech.

Glad he's got a gig. With a massive amount of experience, he could be an asset to a first time head coach like Bowles. I wasn't in favor of him for a job with the Falcons, but the Jets are in a situation where they are trying to get some stability and respectability. He's had those kinds of results just about everywhere.

I don't trash talk Chan on here (and really try not to trash talk any former players/coaches or post about them every time they have a career development), but am I still allowed to be happy that he's no longer the coach of Georgia Tech football? I mean, I'm happy for him that he continues to have a fruitful career, but I didn't like him as a college coach, despite the fact that he made it to the ACCCG one year.

Even rarer for me, but I agree with him and you on this.
