Conference Expansion is Back

They have long been the "target" for poaching the ACC - take your pick of conference and year

Their in state rivals preclude sec (Clemson would never have been able to play for CG last year as member of sec), big 10 don't think so, big 12 would not be good for them IN MY OPINION, pac 12 don't think so.

What other rumors?

Playing that many games a timezone or two over would kill Clemmons or Free Shoes. As for us, we will never ever ever go to the Big 12. If anything. Texas and Oklahoma should be shopping themselves to the Big 10, SEC, or ACC.

Big 12 should shoot for Central Florida and perhaps South Florida if they head east.

In this world hard to say, but if B12 were to implode I could see Texas to Pac12, ou & OSU to sec, and ACC might be smart to look at Baylor, TCU, & others.

I think Texas would go independent before joining the PAC. They're practically independent now in the BigXII-IV+II.

I dont want any expansion. Need to focus on keeping FSU and CLEM. Houston would be a strong add but they are going to PAC 12 if I am to believe what I have heard. Houston may soon be a really good program which has benefitted from UT's decline and Baylor's decline that is inevitable.

Oh and the ACC needs to just go on ahead and lock up ND. Hopefully this new network deal will sway them from the NBC contracts that seem to hold them back.

Why would Clemson and FSU want to leave? They have been in 3 of the 4 NC playoffs IIRC. Money is no problem for either. They have good rivalries and full stadiums. What would they gain by going somewhere else?

I cannot imagine them leaving either but those two schools are always tossed about when discussing expansion.

While I don't think either would happen anyway, the ACC would likely try to woo TCU before Houston any day of the week.

Edit: Assuming the BigXII falls apart.

Both FSU and Clemson have been to the CFP, and all they have to do is stomp all over garbage ACC teams and struggle to beat us in order to get there. With a new TV deal on the way, and the legal battle they'd have to fight to nullify the GOR, they'd be morons to leave just to be Texas' little bitches or add to the monumental pile of also-rans in the SEC.

I don't think any ACC teams have anything to worry about this time around.
