Official Signing Day Thread

Rivals has bumped us from 36? to 37 down to 40. I'm assuming that's from schools below us backfilling some open spots.

I have not looked, but I assume SEC schenanigans.

How's that? We are ranked 9th in the ACC. It is probably due to the positions we recruit, but I'd like to think we could beat Duke and rival Pitt.

Rivals has us sandwiched between Pitt and Duke at 8th. We got bumped down a bit on our avg star rating due to taking a 2 star kicker and WR late. Honestly, though, if you really look at it, our class is pretty much on par with UNC, VPISU, Pitt and Louisville. We only got clearly out-recruited by FSU, Miami (Ten 4 star recruits for St. Richt...U is back, etc.), and Clemson.

Also, we got four 4-star recruits!!!! I will take our chances with our coach and this level of talent.

Scout has us at #52, but what does that really mean. In 2012 - 2016, our average class was ranked at 57.6 while the mutts were 9.6. We beat them twice during that time and won an Orange Bowl. We must have one helluva coach or rankings don't mean squat.

Without the legacy brothers our class would probably be at about our average in the mid 50's with a couple 4*'s

Any chance we sign anyone else? Scout is showing that we made offers to five 3 stars that have not committed or signed yet. On the other hand Scout still does not show that Mikey Minihan has signed his NLI.

This is a solid class and no drama on signing day. CPJ was able to sign 24, despite some late scholarships opening up from transfers. We have good talent coming in on defense, and addressed the needs for this year. The only late flip I can think of was the kicker, and we got a quality replacement the same day. CPJ has proven he can develop a winning team with this caliber of recruits, and I think defense could be improving after today. Not every fan will be thrilled, but can you point to any indication that the program is struggling from this class?

I think I would add Va Tech to schools in the ACC with a significantly better class than our class to go along with FSU, Clemson and the U. We really are very close to Duke, Pitt and UNC, not that far ahead of UVA, and not too far behind Louisville. It is another pretty significant drop back to NCSU, BC, Wake and Syracuse - the bottom four.

All in all I consider this one of our better recruiting cycles under Paul Johnson. We can win with classes like this one.

Now comes the real trick that has been elusive for quite some time. Sustain upward momentum with consecutive successful seasons.

Scout is broke and for sale.

Well at least you're making it official as to where you lie in the "CPJ Haters" vs "Non-CPJ Haters" spectrum.
