Then it means a lot of things, but it also means PJ has lost the fans. He and GT need to plan an exit for him.

I still want him here as coach, but no matter how good he does, every loss will have replies like yesterday. He can win the coastal and still be on the hot seat.

Sad to say it, and even sadder for the likely worse coach we’ll get, but it’s time to make a change.

This line of thinking: I know we probably will get a worse coach and suck more... but I’m on board.

I'm not sure if this or any other board is representative of the overall fan base. All of my friends who are GT fans (alums and non-alums alike) do not post or even read the various boards. I think the boards draw a certain type of fan so if you drew a sample of of what you read here, it would certainly not be a very representative sample. It would be analogous to doing a Trump poll in the CNN building.Us message board people tend to be a bit more emotional and illogical than the guy who might watch or go to a game but otherwise doesn't put much time or energy into thinking or worrying about GT sports.

I can tell that ST is not representative of the fans that I know. Of course most of the fans I know are alumni, so I guess we have a different perspective than folks that don’t have the same kind of tie to the school.

By the end of the game we were down 4 defensive starters, and missing a couple of guys that would normally be on the two deep due to injury. Made for a pretty young defense playing under a new DC. Also don’t forget we lost AJ Gray who was supposed to be with us.

I just chuckled at the folks that thought the defense was going to be magically better under Nate Woody in his first year. Unrealistic expectations are unrealistic.

What it means is that there are a lot of fans who only wear Tech gear after losses so that someone will mention it and they'll have an excuse to go off bitching.

"Tough one for your guys on S-"
"I MEAN HOW MANY FAILED DEFENSIVE COORDINATORS DOES IT TAKE BEFORE YOU PEOPLE SEE THE REAL PROBLEM?"

I want a change even though my handle may not suggest it. It’s just time. I think there are a myriad of issues but none more important than the message seems to have just gotten stale. Once that happens it’s really tough to bounce back from. Winning would sure help but honestly we appear to be the same exact team as last year and Roof was the scape goat and deservedly so, but at this point I can’t blame anyone else but the head coach.

And yes firing the most successful head coach in our modern history is tough but things change. And we have to change too. Since 2014 we have seen a real drop off in talent and coaching while other programs have made changes and gotten better.

What we saw yesterday looked exactly like what we saw last year. Which tells me that things cannot be expected to improve. OL issues, defensive miscues, atrocious special teams play and failing to mentally close out games. All of these things I could apply to last year too. It’s a recurring trend. And if you can accept that, then by all means that’s your right as a fan. It’s comfortable knowing that every once in a while we might sneak up on a big boy program and beat them with our unconventional offense which is awesome when it’s working. But it’s the failure to produce consistent results that bothers me and why I am okay with moving on.

600 yards of offense wasn’t enough for you?

I remember similar comments from many dwag fans when they parted ways with Richt, who was likewise the most successful coach in dwag history from a Win/Loss perspective.
Nothing is guaranteed, of course, but I don't hear any of them complaining anymore.

600 yards of offense is great win it wins you games. It’s just as more shocking when it doesn’t and it’s happened twice in 2 years and one of those times was to a nonP5 school. What exactly is your point here?

It's the after game knee jerk reaction (including me)

We gave a good home team 2 kick off returns and 3 turnovers. Surprising we were even close to winning. We got ~600 yards against a good team.

I'll see how the season turns up (at least next few games), and go from there...

And, no way he will be on the hot seat winning the coastal. That requires winning at least one of Clemson, VT and Miami along with all of UVA, Duke, UNC and Pitt.

Right? Look at Texas Tech under Kingsberry. Tons of points and yards but if it doesn’t win you games, then it really doesn’t matter.

3 Injuries on offense.

2 injuries on defense
2 defensive players ejected
1 defensive starter left in preseason

And you want to blame the coach. Puzzling logic.

That is a pretty high bar. If we don’t win coastal and get blasted by uga what is your read? Does bowl vs no bowl change your opinion?

He lost ST yesterday. I don’t see him gaining it back for an extended time.

Hope you’re right. I’d like PJ to keep coaching

It will continue the same no matter the coach. GT is its own worst enemy. GT beats GT.

Who is responsible for special teams? Paul Johnson. Who is in charge of hiring coaches to teach basic tackling? Paul Johnson. Who is in charge of recruiting at a level where injuries are no excuse because they are part of the game? Paul Johnson.

And my logic is puzzling? Sounds to me like you need to evaluate your definition of logic.

I like how you conveniently fail to mentio that the backup QB got 3 TDs in a row. But don’t let get in the way of your excuses.

I didn’t fail to mention it. I said 600 yards of offense already. TQM would’ve likely done just as well. He got hurt on a play where he gained like 40 yards. And he clearly wasn’t at his best when we neeed him after USF adjusted to our QB left / QB right offense with Tobias.

Yes, that's my point. It was a reply to his post, see the quote. It's not a specific bar.
