Bradley: Tech wants to keep Johnson. That might not be an option.

A Tech team with a losing record has never beaten ugag since 1969, when a 3-6 Bud Carson coached Tech team won 6-0. That was the only time in the last 100 years, too...
Well we might not have a losing record sooo

I guess the point being that if there are problems holding Johnson back, those same problems will also hold back his replacement. Bringing in a new guy won't be much help if the dysfunction continues. Sounds like two separate issues to me.

The main thing is if keeping the current coach makes fixing those other problems harder via less revenue.

Exactly. You take one of those 3 like Kiffin or old man Briles; because if Venables let's it be known he seriously wants to be a head coach, he'll get a better offer than what we are.

Edit: Hey, remember that team with USC pre-season #1 level talent that CPJ embarrassed in the Sun Bowl with a mediocre GT team? Let's hire the coach of that team. smh

Hey, we should cut Kiffin some slack, he was probably hung over.

My assumption on all of this is that Stansbury is holding off on firing CPJ while he tries to fix all of the background issues (locker room upgrade, apparel contract, more money for recruiting, and possibly even relaxed admissions). The thought would be that the next coach would start on more even ground with the other schools. I could be way off on that though.
I think this is pretty accurate. Ideal situation would be that CPJ turns things around and retires on a high note in a few years. By then T-Stan will have had time to make the changes he wants and then GT will be a more attractive job when we go into a coaching search.
