Marshall named starter vs UNC

I'm good with both playing. We'll see. It's not like Marshall hasn't had some good games. Isn't peoples' main complaint about him that he can't throw? We don't have evidence Oliver can, either.
the main complaint is the team does not win when he plays.

I like it. Use both QBs. Make UNCheat, My Yam Me, UVag, and Ugag have to prepare for the new QB and scheme we introduced last week + all of the other stuff.

My advice to their defenses.... practice without a ball and without a QB.

Good lord PJ sounds half retarded. "You know, Tobias played a really good game against Virginia Tech," he said. "Some people have really short memories. TaQuon played a really good game against Louisville. TaQuon was pretty good against Bowling Green. He's been pretty good in a lot of games."

Seriously, he played pretty good against Bowling Green. That's the 2nd game that came to mind? That's the team you're going to set the standard of play against? Bowling Green is a whopping 1- 7 with their only win against Eastern Kentucky. In addition, Louisville is 2-6 with wins over Indiana State and Western Kentucky. He was good because these teams are horrible. Jaybo Shaw would have looked like Michael Vick against these teams.

My shorter memory says Duke tells a different story.

FWIW, here is how ESPN ranks rushing defenses for the teams we have played:

9 Clemson
58 Virginia Tech
93 Pitt
96 Duke
119 South Florida
124 Louisville
130 Bowling Green (last)

Remaining games:
20 UVa
25 Miami
44 UGa
76 UNC

Not sure what to make of that. We probably lowered the rankings for most of the teams we played, and our offense is different from what our future opponents have faced.

My biggest knock on TM is his ball security. He does not protect the ball. And teams know it. Duke was giving yards trying to strip the ball. They weren’t going for the quick tackle.

Go back to VT and review the tackles TO broke for yards after contact. Best I've seen since JFN.

So not excited about this at all.

Yeah playing us torpedoes the rush defenses of teams we play. Would make more sense to remove our game and see where they’d be. We put up 2-3 times the normal rush totals on an average day. Even if UVA “stuffs” us they probably drop outside the Top 40.

Over/under on the number of passes against UNC....I say 5. Place your bets.

Passes = balls thrown (on the field, not to your mom)

Looks like UNC has been worse defending the run this year than against passing. I don't expect us to pass unless we get into 3rd and long situations from penalties. I anticipate similar play calling to the VT game. I'll predict 3 passes and one completion.

FWIW I don't think PJ ever said Marshall was starting. What he said was that you don't bench a senior leader because another guy plays well, and the writer interpreted not being benched as starting. He followed that up by saying both will play, so I'm not sure it really matters who starts, just like with our B-backs and A-backs.

I bet our first play is a pass.

That would surprise me to be honest. If Marshall throws and incomplete and we go 3 and out in his first possession, it will put a lot of pressure on PJ and Marshall which wouldn't be good for either. It will be a running play. PJ will want to ensure we get a good down and distance and try to build some momentum. We don't have enough talent on the edges to go deep with confidence nor a QB that's accurate. If we throw it, it will be a turn and fire for a few yards because the DBs are cheating inside or soft in coverage.
