That would surprise me to be honest. If Marshall throws and incomplete and we go 3 and out in his first possession, it will put a lot of pressure on PJ and Marshall which wouldn't be good for either. It will be a running play. PJ will want to ensure we get a good down and distance and try to build some momentum. We don't have enough talent on the edges to go deep with confidence nor a QB that's accurate. If we throw it, it will be a turn and fire for a few yards because the DBs are cheating inside or soft in coverage.
So, VT got "the good Georgia Tech" as CPJ put it, and now he's pulling the QB that made us good? Yeah, that makes sense.
He rushed for 200+ once, against Tennessee. His next closest was 175 vs Louisville this year and 163 against wake last year. He had 58 total yards in 2015 and 14 in 2016. Do you just like to make shit up?Marshall has rushed for 200+ yards multiple times and was the 3rd leading rusher in the ACC last year. It's easy to look good when the OL is blowing holes in the defense every play.
I don't care who starts. I want to see both guys because both bring something different to the table and can take some pressure off of each other. Carrying the ball 30-40 times every game isn't sustainable for a QB anyway.
This to me is the biggest differentiator between the two QBs. TQM goes down on first contact. TO goes down after after making a couple guys miss in the backfield and dragging the gang tackle a few more yards.Go back to VT and review the tackles TO broke for yards after contact. Best I've seen since JFN.
So not excited about this at all.
15 in the box but only 9 of them NCAA eligible.UNC is going to put 15 guys in the box. Yes 15. They got a waiver from the NCAA. And Swofford.
UNC doesn’t ask for waivers. They’re just going to do it and tell the NCAA that it’s none of their business where they house their students.UNC is going to put 15 guys in the box. Yes 15. They got a waiver from the NCAA. And Swofford.
And the defensive play calls are in Swahili.15 in the box but only 9 of them NCAA eligible.
I haven’t bashed PJ since Clemson game. I saw changes in duke game (and @coit gave me a talking to) I’m uneasy about the Marshall starting/2 qb rotation thing, but we’ll see Saturday.
Good lord PJ sounds half retarded. "You know, Tobias played a really good game against Virginia Tech," he said. "Some people have really short memories. TaQuon played a really good game against Louisville. TaQuon was pretty good against Bowling Green. He's been pretty good in a lot of games."
Seriously, he played pretty good against Bowling Green. That's the 2nd game that came to mind? That's the team you're going to set the standard of play against? Bowling Green is a whopping 1- 7 with their only win against Eastern Kentucky. In addition, Louisville is 2-6 with wins over Indiana State and Western Kentucky. He was good because these teams are horrible. Jaybo Shaw would have looked like Michael Vick against these teams.
My shorter memory says Duke tells a different story.
I'd like to see around a 50/50 split, personally.
And I agree, I think we are all uneasy with TQM coming back but he did torch L’ville. If he doesn’t get it done, I’m sure TO will be right back in there.
Sorry about that, I thought he put up 200 against Louisville. Either way, he's shown to be a big playmaker at times and is a team leader, so I don't think it's unreasonable at all to expect him to play. That said, he's had some terrible games as well so I'd expect healthy rotation of both guys and a short leash if one isn't playing well. Unless we have a star at QB, I don't see anything wrong with rotating players there. He rushed for 200+ once, against Tennessee. Why do people keep going back to Louisville as a point of reference? They are terrible. Wake Forest, who was 3-4 with wins over Rice, Tulane and Towson, put up 56 against them last week.
The argument after that game was they don't see our offense we are only good for those type of games now against teams we don't see on the regular. Then TO plowed VT and Foster.
Lets also forget that Marshall failed to engineer a game winning drive against USF 108th ranked total D but Oliver was nothing but TDs that game.
Reality is Marshall is the only starter under CPJ with a sub 500 record. He also won't be here next year yet we keep trotting out the A back at QB.
CPJ is talking more about the TQM's execution of the offense regardless of the opponent, as in no fumbles, no missed reads, no interceptions, etc. We probably could have run the rocket toss back and forth on them and gotten the same result, but TQM executed the plays called, and made the calls to put the offense in good situations.Make it a 1-8 Bowling Green team after they lost tonight to a 7 loss Kent State team. He looked good though....

We've all accepted SEC logic.
