Paul Johnson and retirement

Those two announcers were typical SEC hayseed jerks. "The turkey I had for Thanksgiving dinner put up more fight than Georgia Tech." "This is ridiculous." "It would be fitting for Paul to go out after the Military Bowl." Georgia beat us by 24. FSU lost by more than that to a team Georgia slaughtered, but nobody talked like that about FSU or their coach. The SEC has everything that money can buy. Too bad for them that class isn't for sale.

Glad I didn't have to listen to the TV announcers, as bad as the game was to watch in person. Sounds about like what I'd expect, though. Pander to the hillbilly/redneck SEC fans and discount anything that's not SEC. Give the people what they want.

They are still butthurt over CPJ’s comments re: the SEC following the Orange Bowl. Our coach ain’t buying the SEC bullshit and that’s made him a target. I love it.

Yes they were pretty much begging him to quit for the good of the game I think. And this game did not end worse than 51-7, but it was absolutely Chantastic...
Kirby pulled the starters because they have another, bigger game to play. Could have easily been 70 to 21.

Yeah, they could basically name the score in that game by leaving the starters in. We had one "death march" style drive late in the 3rd or early in the 4th where we were really burning the clock and went for like 4 4th downs. It felt like they were basically letting us have the 4th downs - lined up with nobody over the center and a wide split tailor-made for a QB sneak or dive to pick up a yard or two and extend the drive.

We looked competitive against the backups, though!

I was somewhat puzzled and bemused that we ran that one trick play with the stacked wide outs and Graham at WR like 4 times before we finally got it right (for like a 12 yard gain), instead of just trying to grind out the clock and get the heck out of there, which U[sic]GA seemed fine with letting us do.

If he has enough money, then he should refuse the bonus for making a bowl game. Give the money back to the assistant coaches like Dabo did at Clemson. Even a symbolic gesture like that might go a long way towards getting some of the fans back on his side.

1. I don't disagree with your idea of giving it to the assistants
2. We have no proof that he did, but we have no proof that he didn't, either.
3. Cynics would say "Why are you giving assistants extra money for making a $&%*&^* bowl game?

Lol yea. Busting out a new formation and trick play vs their walkons was pure genius.

It's a point of pride for me just how few U[sic]GA players I can name, and I was barely paying attention to the game by the end. Anybody have any idea just how far down their bench they got by the end of the game? We talking second string, or literally the end of the bench? (No "LOL, they were playing the cheerleaders" please - I'm genuinely curious, if anybody else has the fortitude to look at their depth chart...)

I know one of his assistants well. He didn't.

While Homer Rice is worthy of the accolades he receives, Dr. Crecine's support for athletics is not well recognized. Crecine was not just a supporter of GTAA but also of physical education/activity of the student body.
Is Peterson retaining his job despite his lack of control because he is willing to let the athletic programs continue to deteriorate? Why else would the BOR retain him in spite of the multiple scandals.

I have a good source that said KQ said CPJ will stay through the 2020 iniative. That way after all the new öööö is built the new coach has a leg up in recruiting already. CPJ won't be renewed in 2020 and will retire.

You hear all this in the Midtown coffee shops?

Well if KQ said it then it simply MUST be true.
