I welcome Coach Collins, but not the honeycombs.

Elliot has absolutely no experience as a head coach. None. If it had been Elliot with Collins' resume, I'd have been all for it. Unfortunately for Elliot, he needs some HC experience before getting a Power 5 job. He needs to set his sights on a school that builds his resume. Collins has Alabama, GT, Florida, Mississippi State experience as an assistant and Temple experience as a HC. As likeable of a guy as Elliot is, GT is not a place for him to come learn how to be a head coach.

On top of all the above, recruiting at Clemson vs recruiting at GT are two entirely different animals.

For those that believe recruiting really is impossible at Tech, we’re about to find out that verdict. That’s why I’m estatic.

Yes, was 2007 a very weird "all the stars aligned" moment, or can it be duplicated and replicated? I will be very surprised if CGC can overcome the negatives to obtain a top 30 class, and even MORE surprised if he can do it in back to back years. I hope I am surprised.

I can be swayed once we find out who the assistants will be and if they are paid towards the top of the conference.

I doubt we have the $$$ to make that sort of jump. I'd look for incremental increases. Last figure I saw was that our assistants made around $2.8 million. If we get that up around $3.5 million, I think that shows an added commitment to making this work.

I really hope this is part of the AD's plans. Given we are in the middle of a big fundraiser, I'd love to see the AD throw an extra million a year to the assistants to upgrade the staff. Commit to win and hopefully it'll pay off with some wins and recruits. I'd hate for us to have to go budget shopping.

We also weren't paying for an OC - so factor that in to the assistants' salary. Also...htf did Temple lose to FCS Villanova in the first game of the season at home? And before someone brings up MTSU, Nova finished 5-6 this year.

My concern about the new coach regardless of whom was hired. Surely, TStan knows that GT needs to up the budget for assistants/support/etc. Otherwise, what was the point of the capital raise initiative?

MTSU lost to Arkansas State 45-0 the year they beat us.

92.5%

Wow. I don't think we would get that level of agreement if someone here started a poll on whether water was wet.
If the pole happened a week before he was hired and we didn’t know he was gonna be hired, the percentage would be lower

I voted yes even though I preferred Monken and the option. I think Gollins is a 5 year coach. If he struggles he'll be fired and if he's successful, he'll take an SEC job.

If he stays five years and is successful then that's still great for us. It's rare for a mediocre program (which is what we are at this point, if we're honest) to hire a coach who is both successful and stays longer than five years. Building up a program is a process, and sometimes it starts by being a stepping stone.

I think is a bit of an overreaction. The depth chart at Oline is solid and guys who didn’t contribute now may be key cogs. The biggest beneficiaries of this change,IMO, are the Morgan Twins and Jack Defoors. The weight room will be vital this summer tho
Interesting. Wonder what kind of chow he'll have them on?

From what I understand he was a Tech fan growing up in Conyers.
Based on the press conference, I'd say it sounded like he was delicately trying avoid saying he was a UGA fan growing up. He would've been 9-12 years old during the Herschel years. Those were the years UGA went to the Sugar Bowl and Tech went to the Toilet Bowl. I musta heard that a million times when I was a kid. The hate was planted at an early age.

Anyhow, it's all good, he got me with the 'no more red pens in the AA' line.
